I think the Madman Vol1 and Vol2 collect everything in Gargantua which colvers both Oddity Oddysey, Madman Adventures and the entire run of Madman COmics from Dark Horse.
There's an Atomics trade from Oni that collects the spinoff minis and specials that Mike didn't write or draw on his own. I'm not sure what's in that. I know there's a Mr. Gum story and a It Girl story.
There's also the first Madman story from Creatures of Id. It's not completely relevent to the Madman story (Frank basically buys a Pixies record in that story).

Thanks Grant!
are you talking about "The Atomics: Spaced Out & Grounded In Snap City" from Oni press ?
Isn't this going to be collected in Madman and the Atomics ?
im still confused !
I wish i could find somewhere online where they do a bibliography of Allred, with all the trades available and describing what is collecting what

According to the recent Image December Solicits there is a third Madman Volume. Collecting issues 12-20 of the Dark Horse Series and the Madman Special from Oni.
So basically Vol 1. Collects the first two miniseries, Vol. 2 collects 1-11 of the Dark Horse series. And Vol. 3 collects the rest. Everything that's in Gargantua.
I'm not sure what Madman & The Atomics Vol. 1 Collects. The solict doesn't specify.
It's 380 pages so it should be the first 15 issues. But I could be wrong.
I'm assuming a Madman & The Atomics Vol. 2 would collect the Image stuff that's coming out now.

I guess that it's the old Atomics serie. It would corespond almost with the number of the issues...
I think the word "Madman" in this title is because the character of Madman appeared in the Atomics issues (and the Atomics is a spinof of Madman, I think...).
And the text of Solicits (Jully Preview) is :
MADMAN & THE ATOMICS, VOL. 1 TP
story MIKE ALLRED
art & cover MIKE & LAURA ALLRED
380 PAGES
FC
SEPTEMBER 26
$24.99
From pop art wizard MIKE ALLRED comes straight-up superhero good times! The Atomics are a group of fun-lovin' hipster heroes trying to make a difference. They fight crime, befriend monster aliens and find love in Snap City! Spun off from the pages of Madman, Frank "Madman" Einstein also appears alongside the Mutant Street Beatniks turned superheroes.
I'm assuming a Madman & The Atomics Vol. 2 would collect the Image stuff that's coming out now.
I don't think so... No Atomics (characters) in the current Madman at Image... (or I should change my eyes :D).
BV72, not a man, but completely mad... :D

THanks for the tpblist link Bouffonvert!
so i guess that if i want to get all things Madman i'd have to get:
Madman Gargantua
Madman / Superman
Madman /Nexus / Jam
Madman and the Atomics vol1
Atomics: Spaced Out & Grounded In Snap City
And the ongoing "madman Atomics Comics" serie....

They feature prominently in the next issue... at least according to the cover. They are going to be regular supporting characters. We saw a couple of them in issues 2 & 3.
When Mike was wrapping up both Madman and The Atomics series he said he was going to combine the two in one book.

so, we're not going to get a "Madman and the Atomics vol2 tpb" but a "Madman Atomics Comics vol 1 tpb" instead ?

I have no idea. I'm just making assumptions. Don't worry about it.
Also the upcoming Pop Gun Anthology will reprint the first Frank Einstein story (which isn't really in continuity).

I've been hearing a lot about this series the last few days. How good is it, should I pick up the first three Madman Atomic Comics issues from Image?

There are four issues out now. They are a little more existential then usual. There's also a big Madman trade collecting the first two miniseries coming out this week.

I picked up the new trade this week, and I've really enjoyed it. The art is so expressive, considering how simple Allred's style is.
Anyone know the release dates for vol. 2 and 3? I tried finding them on the Image website, but it's god awful for information.

Did that Atomics trade actually end up shipping? I didn't see it anywhere. I wish I still had my individual issues, but you know...long as I can get the trade. I loved that series.
I'm currently reading through X-Satix in trade.

Amazon.com has it listed since September 15, as "usually ships within 1 to 3 months"
http://www.amazon.com/Atomics-Mike-Allred/dp/1582408122/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-1612218-3796953?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1191750699&sr=8-1
I ordered it 2 weeks ago and they say the shipping estimate is November 28, 2007.
