Several DC characters, some of whom go back to the 60's, have resurfaced in mainstream DC continuity. I'm thinking about characters like the Multi-Alien. This led me to wonder about Prince Raman (was there a hyphen in that ?) who I believed shared a book with Ultra the Multi-Alien (Mystery in Space or House of Secrets, I think). Anybody else remember this character? Was his fate pre-Infinite Crisis determined? He was a reasonably good middle level magical character.

IIRC he appeared in the Zatanna arc of Morrison's Seven Soldiers.

He died in Crisis on Infinite Earths. Post-Crisis, he was King Ra-Man of an alternate dimension inside of his emerald cube and, near as I can tell, he was never involved with Mark Merlin. Mark Merlin, post-Crisis, was a ghost-detective from the Fifties and died in retirement in a home in Gotham City. His wife, Elsa Magusson, is still alive and hanging out with the Sea Devils and Red Torpedo at Windward Home.

In Seven Soldiers of Victory, Ra-Man told Zatanna that there was a war coming and that he'd assume his wrathful battle aspect. In the context of that series, the war was assumed to be with the Sheeda, but with Grant Morrison writing Final Crisis, I wouldn't be surprised if Ra-Man showed up there for whatever war erupts.

My first exposure to the character was in Crisis on Infinite Earths. I believe I said "Who?" aloud when he died. After reading his entry in Who's Who, I was interested in reading some stories, but I've never been able to find any back-issues. I liked the King Ra-Man that appeared in soldiers, though.

His video games are pretty fun, too.
