Sigh. Now some people are complaining about the Zapper. Nevermind the fact that you can already use the Wiimote to murder virtual people, if you so choose. Fortunately, the comments section at the link is more sane than the article itself.

Hahahaha, you know. I'm all for bashing Nintendo's silly inventions for the Wii. But this aint silly.
We've had gun's since NES days have we not? and The most popular shooting games series Time Crisis for the PS1 and 2 has been around for years.
This article wouldn't even make the news if it wasn't the Wii.

That people are angry about this is kinda ridiculous. Duck hunt?
When is this supposed to come out? Until this thread I hadn't heard anything about it. I imagined they would but when is it due out? Also how many first person shooter games will there be? It doesn't seem like Nintendo has really had any great ones other then Metroid.

"I think it's irresponsible for Wii to come out with a controller that looks like a gun so kids can play games simulating shooting. What kind of message are we sending as parents when we buy these things for our kids?"
If you think little kids shouldn't be using the Wii zapper, as much as it'll suck for the kids, don't buy it for them. How simple is that?
Don't ruin the Wii zapper for the more mature nintendo gamer.
Violent videogames doesn't make kids into trained killers, bad parenting does.

These will be the same parents buying the Wii Zapper for their kids during the holidays.

Man, sometimes I hate my home state.
I want to ask all these people if they grew up with BB guns or rubberband guns. Do they have these same protests toward paintball? Laser tag?

Violent video games do not make violent kids. Violent kids like violent video games. Parents need to stop blaming everthing for their failures as parents.

Yes we have had them before and when I was little toys r us had rows of black, realistic guns with no orange tips as toys but times have changed.
What you cant take nail clippers or scissors or water bottles on planes? When my dad was younger he and his friends went on a hunting trip to colorado and took guns and ammo on planes and were put in a closet at front of the plane for them, in the aisle.
Guns like this for systems and everything else parents raise hell about same things. Something bad happened and everyone and their mother jumped on the bandwagon banning whatever they could they was even close to it because they want to blame the ills of the country and its youth or whatever on things they dont like or understand.
Just like drugs, parents blame heavy metal music and all this crap on kids using drugs and shit because they dont like it, youll never hear a parent complain about the doors, the beatles or anyother 60s band that actually sang about taking drugs and such because they grew up with it and like it, that somehow makes it ok.
Its just bandwagon mentality though. People like nothing better than to join together and bitch about something as a group, they get to feel righteous and vindicated if a group of folks point their fingers and say "theres the badguy". Just like people like to read about britney spears goofing up, brad pitts ugly suit, president bush saying something, the ps3 sucks or whatever. They dont need a reason other than they think its so, people just love to complain about anythhing.
