I just finished Planet Heist. WOW! The art was amazing and it was a darn good story. I would have liked for it to continue on but from the browsing I did of the Adam Strange Wikipedia article, it looks like there is another miniseries. Which brings me to this post...
Is the Rann / Thanagarian War a pretty good miniseries? Although I have read the first 2 trades of 52 and have been pulling Countdown every week, Adam Strange never really interested me all that much. Well, to be honest, I knew very little about him but what I had read didn't make me want to actively seek out his books. I picked up Planet Heist on a recommendation from the LCS and was really impressed.
I finally understand why I see a good number of posts saying good things about Strange.
Which of the other Strange stories compares in terms of quality of art and story? And what else might Ferry and McCaig be working on? I'm not sure how much of the art was due to Ferry's pencils or McCaig's coloring but the end result was outstanding in my opinion.

Ferry signed an exclusive w/ marvel and was working on Ult Fant 4. Not quite sure what he's doing now, but he did the 1st 2 issues of 7 soldiers Mister Miracle.

He's was on the God War storyarch, then replaced for the three-parter Diablo(Mark Brooks supplied the art) and returned for Silver Surfer storyarc which is still running.
Scripting is done by Mike Carey. I highly recommend the book

Rann Thanagar was.. meh. Well, especially after the mini-series you read. I'd suggest following Ferry over to Ult FF.

He's going to be doing Ultimate Iron Man v2 as well, so I suspect he will be off UFF shortly.

After reading them both, I wish Andy Diggle had written Rann/Thanagar War as well.

I loved both Planet Heist AND Rann/Thanagar War, as well as the Adam Strange story in the recent Countdown to Adventure #1. I love the DC space universe and Adam Strange is definitely a part of it. Awesome character.
I love how he's always got some kind of tension going on because he doesn't fit completely well on Earth or completely well on Rann. He's a stranger wherever he goes and that's interesting. Oh yeah, and jet packs are really cool.

Thanks for the responses. I may wait on the Rann / Thanagarian War until it is a particularly slow week but I may pick up some Ultimate FF off the shelf and take a look.
Seems like Adam Strange can really shine in the right hands.

Yeah, that and his Starman (though really Starman and Swamp Thing were just great all around) appearances are my favorite Strange stories.

I haven't read Planet Heist yet (Plan to soon), but I have issues 3-6 of Rann-Thanagar War, and I thought it was good.
I'll just assume Planet Heist was a superior product as to why people were let down by Rann-Thanagar War, as I don't see what was so disappointing about it. Wasn't the greatest storyline I've ever read, but it was far better than a lot of other storylines that get released.

I loved Planet Heist. I do with they had done an actual ending, instead of just segueing into another miniseries that would segue into another miniseries that would segue into...
Well, you get the point. The mini itself=awesome

Adam Strange is one of my absolute favourite DC characters. It's good to see DC giving him some of the spotlight. I loved Planet Heist and really enjoyed Rann/Thanagar.
If you can afford it (they're pretty pricey), check out the DC Archives volumes for some great Silver Age Adama Strange adventures.
