Granted, but their fates are horrid. Anole has all his limbs chopped off only to discover the rest don't grow back. Mercury gets put in a giant thermometer, Dust gets overheated by Sunfire and turns into a living breathing non-moving glass statue, Pixie becomes the new Goblin Queen, Hellion gets trapped in a TK bubble, Rockslide just goes away cause he sucks and Surge, poor Surge, she is taken over by the US government and used as an alternative power source for the country to avoid Global warming!!!!

Granted, but then Brian gets Betsy pregnant. She carries the fetus, and after lots of otherworldly drama she goes into labor, but then the focused totalitiy of Psylocke's vagina takes over and instead of delivering the baby into the world the world is sucked in towards the baby.

Granted, but as she dies, she passes here magical powers to Kurt, corrupting him in the process, transforming him to Belasco. The only one who can stop him is Pixie, who ends up teleporting him back in time. Pixie then becomes Daytripper II.

Granted but you find out later is was a clone of Mystique the whole time. Since the 70's. The real storm was killed by a passing ice cream truck and so Forge made a clone Mystique to take her place permanently with some future device in her uterus to help her control the weather.

But that team consist of every x-men and x-team member there ever was, therefore turning the x-men into an army of sorts, and the book being so crowded that there is no room for character development. And of course Claremont would right it, with Sage finally leading the X-men.

The next issue is a 2 year jump where most character died mundane deaths off-screen. Slipstream steps up as the new leader, but now has a power of causing people to break out into showtunes. He is killed by a mutated Wolverine who is drawn to look like an A&F model, after a rousing rendition of Hello Dolly.
