I have been a reader of Marvel Comics for years. Some of the greatest minds have worked for the company and I give them their due.The company has gone downhill so mcuh in tha last few years though,to the point I am about to stop buying their books altogether. They resurrect characters to the point it seems a revolving door. They tell storylines only to undo the results mere months later.I really wish that we as readers made the decisions on what stories are told. Some of the books are pretty good but its hard to get interested in a book when you know they will do something to mess it up in a short period of time. This skrull story that seems to be in the near future will ruin alot of things that could have been very interesting.Marvel doesnt have the capability to tell a great story or one of any longlasting impact. They sacrifice story quality for financial success.I do not blame them for the financial part but when it goes to the extreme,it becomes disgusting. They do not want to give us satisfying stories but wait awhile and they will be raising the prices of their books citing "paper and printing costs".Give us something we feel is worth buying and maybe we wont mind the extra costs! They are constantly late shipping one or more titles which is unprofessional and yet they think their merchandise is worth the money. All I can say is their saving me alot of money considering the rate at which Im dropping their books and all I can say is THANK GOD FOR DC!

...right.

I personally love a universe that I can't second guess, that keeps me on my toes, that keeps things fresh and exciting, that isn't afraid to take risks.

At the end of the day, we read comics for entertainment, same as anyone has any hobby. Right now, Marvel is absolutely excelling at keeping me entertained with no less than 30 titles a month that I look forward to.

This would make more sense if it was the '90's. But at the moment there's a lot of great stuff coming out of Marvel right now. Sure you're not going to like everything, and maybe it has gotten to a point that you're the one who's changed. You only say you've been reading for years, so your POV may be different.

They resurrect characters to the point it seems a revolving door.
Examples? There haven't been that many resurrections. Frankly, pointless deaths are a bigger problem than resurrections. Resurrections have been around since the days of Sherlock Holmes and even before that. It's a part of literature, comic and otherwise. It just depends on how the return is handled.

They tell storylines only to undo the results mere months later.
Only storyline I can think of that fits this is Xorneto. Which was done to salvage Magneto's character from a bad storyline. Frankly it wasn't the return of Magneto that was the problem. It was the 'Have My Cake and Eat It Too' mindset of Marvel, who also wanted Xorn back. Hence the twin nonsense.

I really wish that we as readers made the decisions on what stories are told.
Considering fans can't even agree on what do and don't like, that would be horrible. Everyone likes something different, especially in comics. Not to mention, fans should never have that big of an influence on the universe. Hell, even some of the fanboys who later become writers like Whedon prove that it's not a great idea. ;)

Some of the books are pretty good but its hard to get interested in a book when you know they will do something to mess it up in a short period of time. This skrull story that seems to be in the near future will ruin alot of things that could have been very interesting.
I wasn't aware you'd read the story already. So assuming already that it will ruin a lot of things, is a pretty big jump to conclusion. Especially since the storyline has been brewing in the background since New Avengers #1.

Marvel doesnt have the capability to tell a great story or one of any longlasting impact.
I don't know... they've had a lot of long-lasting impact in the books as of late. And fans are angry over pretty much all of it. Or they ignore that there's been change, simply to scream that there hasn't been change.

Everything costs more now a days. It's not like they're just raising the price of comics simply to try to squeeze more blood out of a stone. It's interest rates, cost of living, saleries, paper and ink. Everything costs more. I'm sure you don't tell your boss that you don't want a wage increase due to cost of living going up. So why should Marvel try to hold prices to some level even though it would mean losing money.

They are constantly late shipping one or more titles which is unprofessional and yet they think their merchandise is worth the money. All I can say is their saving me alot of money considering the rate at which Im dropping their books and all I can say is THANK GOD FOR DC!
Delays have happened from the beginning of comics. It's the internet that has allowed people to be aware of the delays. And please, DC is equally responsible for the exact same thing you're complaining about Marvel for.

Somehow, I get an image in my head.

Yeah, I know, it doesn't really foster debate, but I'm not sure the original post does, either. I think. Paragraphs are your friend, not enemy. But the argument seems to be the books cost too much, and I don't want to buy them? Got a simple answer for you, pal. Don't.

What a wuss answer.

REAL comics fans buy comics they hate, then whine like little babies that the characters in the books aren't exactly how they imagine the characters in their heads to anyone who will listen.

A REAL comics fan can turn ordering at Subway into a rant about how Joe Quesada ruined his childhood.

Shows you know nothing! Joe Quesada rapes childhoods, not ruins them. :p :D
