This weekend is the Austin City Limits Festival. I know we have a few Austinites here on the board.

Who else is planning on going? On what days? Who else has a three-day pass? What acts are you looking forward to seeing?

For anyone not going, the ACL Fest website (http://www.aclfest.com/default.aspx) will offer free streaming of most of the big shows throughout the weekend.

Amy Winehouse already canceled because she had to go into (and apparently right back out of) rehab. Today, The White Stripes canceled their show, but it clears up the scheduling gaff that was created, pitting Muse's show against Arctic Monkeys, by moving all the shows on that stage up an hour so Muse can substitute for The White Stripes.

I discovered a few new bands last year. The Sam Roberts Band was great.

A lot of people are saying not to miss Arcade Fire because they put on such a great show. Someone else recommended Gotan Project, but I'd rather see Kaiser Chiefs instead.

Any acts you recommend seeing?

I see that Crowded House is playing. I would be interested if they were playing longer than an hour.

The Del McCoury band, absolutely!

This thread is doomed to succumb to the Apodaca Principle:
Band A is better than Band B because Band A is less well-known.

Or you know talking about an amazing bluegrass performer that is still touring and was born in 1939.

I saw Del & the Boys play on the Down From The Mountain tour. Great show. If you ever get a chance to see him, take it.

I just saw them last month at the Beacon and they were a whole lot of fun. They were much better than I imagined them to be.

Honestly, I didn't recognize the name, but the music is familiar. When I saw they released a gospel album, I was definitely apprehensive because it's not my thing. Listening to it now, it's fun. I have a feeling they likely had a bump in sales when O Brother, Where Art Thou? came out.

I just saw that Common is going to be there. May have to check him out. If anything, it's an interesting divergence from much of the other performers there.

I give Del my highest recommendation. Listening to his version of "1952 Vincent Black Lightning" is worth the price of admission.

I enjoy Asleep at the Wheel for what they are. But I'm a western swing fan. They're significantly better live than they are on record.

I'm not a huge Bela Fleck fan, but his work is at least very interesting.

I prefer his work outside of the Flecktones.

1939? That's nothing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Brubeck)...

And yes, he is still touring.

Del's playing at 1:30, which I think is about perfect. I can already imagine sitting in the grass, eating lunch, drinking a beer, and listening to Del.

Yes, but the closest he comes to Austin is Salt Lake City, which isn't close at all.

He was in Houston a month or two back.

Why did the city of Austin have to limit the festival?
