What happened to the New Mutant Classics trades?
It's been quite a while since volume 2.
I was looking forward to having at least the first 60 issues in TPB form like this.
Anyone know if they have been canned, or any release dates, rumours, anything?

It's still coming. Marvel just decided to fast-track Excalibur instead.

Mostly because it was more relivant to the current books than New Mutants.

Both have sold well though, and there are plans for more releases of both.

Yeah, Excalibur has three now, doesn't it? I keep on meaning to pick them up. I have all the issues boxed away, but it'd be nice to have them recoloured.

I have the first New Mutants volume. I prefer this format to Essentials, all in all.

Excalibur Vol.4's coming in December iirc. New Mutants has to step it up...

Any word on a second Uncanny Omnibus either? I know the original sold out pretty quick, I'd like to see it continue...

I can't wait for the next volume of NM Classics, because it'll start with the beginning of the Claremont/Sienkiewicz era, which is one of my all-time favorite comics runs. Sienkiewicz's art is astounding, and I think it inspired Chris Claremont to write some of his best work.

I agree. I love that New Mutants era. Demon Bear!

I've got both the volumns out so far. I'm looking forward the next one as well. I want more Cypher and Warlock!

November, actually. It was in the last solicits. We'll probably get New Mutants Vol. 3 early in the next year. But like I said above, they're simply pushing Excalibur out faster because there's an Excalibur book. And Captain Britain, Roma, Crosstime, etc. are current in the actual books. So it's more relevant than New Mutants.

As for Uncanny X-Men Omnibus Vol. 2, I keep hearing whispers. But nothing concrete. The first Omnibus for 2008 will be Marvel Zombies, from what I'm hearing. But we had 8 this year, so hopefully we'll see Vol. 2 next year.

A Marvel Zombie Omnibus? Geez, I liked the first mini, but they're really killing this. It's the 2000's version of every issue having a guest appearance by Punisher, Wolverine, Venom, and Ghost Rider.

Good to hear NM Classics is continuing though I wish they'd ramp up the schedule a bit. It's just about to get to the juicy stuff.

Yeah, I'm likely passing on the MZ Omnibus myself. Especially given that I have all the original issues. And the more they've been revealing about the backstory, the more continuity errors have started cropping up. So eh...

Without a doubt we need this NOW! And may they not stop 'till all of CC's work is collected.

I agree. I loved New Mutants so much while Chris Claremont was writing it -- I think it was frequently better than the X-Men coming out at the same time -- but IMO it got SO bad SO quickly when he left.

The first Uncanny one is getting another print run (solicited about two months ago), so if you missed it the first time you can get one soon. I believe I've seen that Uncanny #2 is definitely slated for 2008.
