BERLIN (Reuters) - A blind judo expert astounded a mugger by pinning him to the ground after he tried to steal his cigarettes, police said on Monday.

The assailant, a 17-year-old man of Asian origin, spotted the 33-year-old, who police identified only as Emil E., at a train station in the southwestern town of Giessen and thought he would be easy prey, police spokesman Rolf Wellershausen said.

But what the attacker did not know, the spokesman said, was that his victim was a world-class blind judo wrestler.

The 17-year-old threatened the blind man, then punched him in the face, at which point the martial artist flipped him and held him down until police arrived.

Do you just go through news feeds in an effort to keep us all informed?

If so, thanks!

Okay, seriously.

I'm going to back up and start again.

Welcome to CBR! We hope you find what you're looking for. We can be a contentious community, but in the end, you've stumbled into a room of a lot of people who've known each other for years and look forward to adding you to the list.

That said, this is from the rules thread (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=45221) at the top of the page.

* 10. Don't start too many threads on the same day. Sometimes posters (especially newbies) get all excited and wind up posting 3, 4, even 5 threads a day. Remember, each new thread pushes someone else's off the front page. Communities thrive when its members respect each other. In a similar vein, please try not to start new threads if there's already an existing thread dealing with a similar topic. When one kind of topic starts to dominate the board, I will ask for posters to cut back for a while.

Seriously, anybody can start a thread. How 'bout joining in on other threads as well, though? Give other folks a shot at getting to know you.

don't worry. starting too many threads won't make you lose your street cred or nothin'.
was about 3 years of off and on CBR use before i posted a single thread, and now i think i may have done 3... maybe 4. but don't tell anyone. i'm just here for the drinking games i can make out of certain posters replies.

and i wish i were a blind judo expert, but i'd settle for just the second part.

Keep playing your drinking games and you might get to the first part!
