Campbell Rejects 'Bubba Ho-tep' Sequel
Actor Bruce Campbell has turned down the chance to star as Elvis Presley once again in the sequel to Bubba Ho-tep, insisting the character is "dead to him." Campbell has been offered the lead role in the comedy Bubba Nosferatu and the Curse of the She-Vampires, but rejected the opportunity because he and director Don Coscarelli have failed to solve their creative differences. He tells Fangoria magazine, "Don Coscarelli is a very passionate filmmaker. We got to a few points that we couldn't reconcile. I want to keep our friendship, so we parted ways. So I'm not part of that project."
Say it ain't so Bruce.

Oh brother.
This coming from the guy who was in The Man With 2 Brains? What sort of artistic vision did HE need to preserve?

Steve Martin ruined this?
Nah, I know you meant Man With the Screaming Brain.
I didn't like the idea of a sequel to Bubba Ho-Tep, which is a movie I really dig. The thought of it turning into Elvis versus a monster of the year just wasn't my thing I suppose, even though it is Bruce Campbell as Elvis, which was just bloody awesome.
There's still My Name is Bruce coming up, not to be confused with the small wonder from the 80's that is They Call Me Bruce or it's sequel - They Still Call Me Bruce.

Just because a guy chooses to be in awesomely cheesy movies, doesn't mean he has to take a role if he doesn't like the script for what ever reason it may be.

Thank you, pastor.
I never said anything about him not having a choice, Im just saying its odd that he would choose to turn down what will more than likely be a good movie in lieu of the shit he's been making regularly since, about Army of Darkness.

Lighten up dude. I was far from preaching. I can start if you want though.
EDIT: I went back and looked at my post. Seriously, tell me how I was preaching? I don't get it.

I have to wonder what the nature of the "creative differences" were. From what I gather, it wasn't a flat out rejection of the concept or the entire script. I mean, I won't lose any sleep over it-- Bubba Ho-Tep was great, but I can't see it becoming a franchise-- but I think the character could have supported one sequel.

If Bruce Campbell would quit screwing around with cult kitsch, he could have a solid career as a character actor. But not if he gets a repuation for 'creative differences'.

What's with you? You're always being either defensive, rude, or just plain nasty.

Yeah, I'm always having my own viewpoints. I'm just preachy that way. The Mutt, the reason Bruce sticks to cult kitsch is because he makes enough money and doesn't really want anything to do with main stream Hollywood. His autobiography is my source.

Is it possible he doesn't want to do a sequel without Ossie Davis?
