LOL

Those news are just crappy.

All those characters in black leather. Is CC writing it?

Maybe "X-23" is really Sage with claws? Kind of like when Shadowcat had claws?

That's sort of what I said in my earlier post (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showpost.php?p=5449283&postcount=235), that the uniforms are sort of like the Shadow X-Men in New Excalibur. :p

Does no one else think that these characters are somehow being controlled? I think the glowing red eyes are a pretty big clue...

Shame about Rahne, but at least now we know who's leaving PAD's X-Factor...

Who says they're not going with her?
True. Plus, they're advertised as a team of killers! Kyle and Yost can write their heroes dishing it out, not just taking it (and I really enjoy NXM, to be clear)!

I don't really think that they are being controlled but perhaps they are the people that have to do all the dirty work that can't be publicly acknowledged. I'm thinking the red eyes just indicates that they are are all willing to kill and are just slightly psychotic . . .

or do you know something we don't again? ;)

I only got into comics on the back of my love for X-Men...

I can't believe how much I just DON'T CARE anymore.

I can't remember the last time I enjoyed an X book outside of New X-Men (and Astonishing when it's around) but the core books..? We've gone from atrocious writers churning out ludicrous stories to having SHITE team rosters and hideous art...Messiah Complex better wield better things than what we see here or I'm done...

I'm not even worried about "X-Men Disassembled" 'cos there's barely anything left I care about...

I NEVER thought I'd be reading an MU where the Avengers and Hulk constantly excite me and the X-Men leave me weeping...never in a million years.

So far we have:

Carey off core X-Team and regulated to solo maxi book.

An X-Force book featuring Wolverine, Brubaker's Wolverine Substitute, Wolverine with a vagina, and the Lifeless Husk of Wolfsbane's Body Possessed By The Soul of Wolverine.

A Terminator-esque Liefeldian Cable that replaces Fabian's Cable and Deadpool.

I'm soooo excited to see what they dig up next for us.*

Pretty much agree with you there (apart from the Hulk thing).

All I need now is for New X-Men and X-Factor to be cancelled, and Gambit killed off in the crossover, and that'll be it for the X-verse.

I'll be down to New Avengers (though that's getting worse by the month), Captain America and Runaways, if it ever appears again.

(I'm scared) :(

Seriously though:

How do we know that's Rhane?
How on earth are they going to make so many similar character's interesting narratively over a sustained period of time?
Where the heck is Carey going?
What's happening to New X-men if Y/K chase the 2 & 3?
The world is ending!!!

Joe Zool

Well.

Two(ish) years ago, I was getting ready to leave X-Men. Claremont was off Uncanny, Milligan was...well, we all know what Milligan was doing. So, I was about to drop all X-titles until I read Mike Carey's interviews and his ideas and his love for the X-genre convinced me to stick around to read his X-Men.

And now it's deja vu again. Like a poster said, "Do not want." That sums it up for me. X-Men are supposed to be dark, yes, but there was always an underlying gleam of light, of joy to it. See Carey's X-Men for this example.

But now it's all dark and gritty. Do not want, indeed.

I can't say i'm too excited... or excited at all about this new X-force. But i'm all for Cable again, as long as it's Nicienza or Carey writing, or he at least doesn't come back to Liefield era.

And does "appearing elsewhere" means that Wolverine will be both in X-force and in another X-men team book, or just the solos and New Avengers? If it's the last case, great. If it's the first, oh, crap, it's 2004 again:(

as much as i love cable and even x-force looks pretty cool theres no way that either one of these books will sell close to what mike carey x-men is doing.....as for rumors a while back there was a rumor that it was going to be DAniel Way and MArk Texiera possibly on a new deadpool book.......also axel alonso seems to like daniel way as a writer so i could defintly see him writing one of these books..and he mentioned in a recent interview he had some major work coming out of the x-office.......and as for FAbian i see him possibly heading over to DC fulltime...if you look recently old X-ediotr Mike Marts is quitely bringing alot of his x-crew over to Dc.bedard, califoire, tieri sean chen...........both Fabian and Milligan are writing books for the BAtman Crossover and i could see him trying to lure Mike Carey over there as he was the one that orginally hired him for x-men

I like seeing that she's on this team with people I think are more of her peers. Good move IMO.

It'll be interesting if its Hepz and Caliban as well since I really didn't expect them to stick around long term.

I think Wolfsbane looks awesome! No more wolf head for you!

Overall, Clayton Crain is rocking my rocks and my clocks like its all of your business.

At first I thought it was really odd to see that roster on X-Force (as well as the title coming back) but it looks like it could be interesting. Hopefully this won't turn into Wolverine starring in every title again because that was just retarded.

Although I must say it's funny to see a bunch of you guys turn into drama queens and threaten to drop every x-title because of this.

Interesting info from the IGN version of the release news.
IGN Comics: "Complex" is leading to the cancellation of several X-titles as well as the addition of others. Can you lay out for us what books are ending? Are you able to specify the three books that are coming (and creative teams if you are able)? If not, when can fans expect to hear about these teams? When can fans expect to see the other books cancelled, and can you specify how many are getting the axe?

Alonso: I can't yet. Look for that information in a later announcement.
So we have 2 of the 3 coming X-Books. And one of the cancelled.

New Books:

1. Cable solo
2. X-Force
3. Carey's teased 'Solo' book?

Cancelled:

1. Cable & Deadpool

Possibly canidates for cancellation:

1. X-Men - Carey's got a new X-Book coming. Cancelled to make Uncanny twice a month?
2. New X-Men - X-23's left. Who knows what the status of everyone else is?

Safe:

Uncanny X-Men - We know it ain't going anywhere.
New Excalibur - New writer with Cornell.
Exiles - Confirmed as returning after the NEXiles X-Over.
X-Men: First Class - Confirmed continuing. Sells well, given it's viewed as a MA title.
X-Factor - PAD has commented on future plans.

Likely Safe:

Wolverine - Nothing concrete. But I can't see it cancelled. I guess.
Wolverine: Origins - Ditto. I guess.

I can't get enough Wolverine!

*sarcasm drips*

Clayton Crain sells X-Force for me. I'm guessing Marvel knows he's the selling point. I love his stuff, but I hope this doesn't turn into another Adi Granov/Iron-Man debacle. How long does it take him to produce an issue? I don't recall him ever doing anything monthly before.

I wonder who the writer is??? It can be a good "no name" writer like Christos Gage (no offense, Christos), because Crain and the new #1 relaunch will sell it at first.

Whatever happened to Doop from the Peter Milligan X-Force? Didn't Quesada say he was going to be a breakout character at Marvel? I take it he's not involved with this incarnation. I didn't care for Mike Aldred's art, so I didn't stick with the series, but I take it they are broken up as a team? Was anything ever made of them taking Cable's team's name? If not, I think a reckoning is in order in the pages of the new series, and Marvel can use it as a reason to bring that group back in a new series.

WHOA! Nate Grey?! When and where?!

I don't think you can completely rule it out.

Uncanny X-Men
X-Men (Astonishing)
X-Factor
Wolverine
Excalibur (New)
X-Force
Cable

add in your obligatory Generation X/New Mutants/New X-Men team

and X-Man would be the only title missing from the X-line of books from the early 90s.

X-Force? Is this supposed to make me excited? I'm rolling my eyes. Because we need another book with Wolverine. I don't care what "role" he plays, my eyes are rolling.

I'm going to make a guess that Alonso was a huge fan of the Liefeld era.

Cable, Bishop, Forge. X-Force with four Wolverine-like characters. I'm sorry.

How many times can you make the exact same complaint? We get it. You're not fired up for this stuff. Duly noted, and I'm sure Marvel is really worried about it.

I'll be adding both books to my pull-list, and I'm sure many others will do the same. I fully expect Marvel to be rewarded financially for making some changes to their stagnant X-line, and IMO it's about time.

Bring it on! I do hope, though, that Wolverine will only be in the one X-book. No need for him to be on Astonishing and X-Force and the New Avengers, at least IMO.

In the past the x-men titles didnt rely on these events so much. We had regular stories where people werent swapping teams every 20 issues. I guess reload was a flop. I wouldn't mind Wolverine being in this book so much if I wasn't 90% sure that he'll also be on Ellis' Astonishing team. I obviously love the character, but even I'm getting sick of his overexposure. IMO the best thing Marvel could do to fix the character would be to limit his appearances to three regular books per month: 1 solo book, 1 X-title, and New Avengers. And the X-title ought to be this new X-Force IMO, as it seems to fit the character best.

As for Astonishing, I'd really like to see Cable leading that team since he's back to his old, bad-ass Terminator days.:)

As much as I loathe to think of how dull this team of Wolverine, Wolvagina, Were-Wolvagina, and Chief Stabs-A-Lot will be... I must pause to consider WHY they're all on a team. Right... let's give it a thought... I can only come up with two storytelling/editorial reasons they'd team all these characters up, and NOT make it dull.

Usually, on a team book, there's a fighter/tracker because they're filling a niche. This team seems to have that as their function and overall purpose. With the teaser shot of X-Factor #26 that has all these characters, plus Hepzibah (Skunkverine) AND Caliban (Wolverine's mentally challenged fugly cousin), it seems even more clear that something is going to be hunted to the ends of the Earth by one-time followers of Xavier's dream.

Now, this team could theoretically form to try to track down the first mutant born after M-Day. It'd fit well with the book's first solicit during Messiah Complex. That's a lock. But that, at best, gives from 12-25 issues of story. Considering much of "Messiah" plays out throughtout the X-books, I'm thinking it will actually be more like the first six.

So, you put the X-Trackerz together... and then what? Well, word on the "Secret Invasion" panel is that the X-Men and other X-Books will heavily play upon the Skrulls being in the Marvel U. Maybe they hunt for missing heroes? Maybe they hunt down Skrull dopplegangers. More than likely its the former, since Wolverine's heightened senses can't tell a Skrull from Shinola anymore.

With all these thoughts...and whether or not my plot estimations matter worth a damn, I still think it will be a dull book that will have a line-up change after a few issues, and by #25 (if it stands a prayer of lasting THAT long) only one or two of the preview members will still be in possession of X-Force decoder rings.

But what the hell do I know? I have just enough preview art to grasp at straws, and comics precognition can be a cruel b*tch of a mistress what with clones, unexplained resurrections, and retcons that make my brain numb.

I guess that does make sense. And, God knows, I'll be much happier if there's a chance this Stab-Force book lasts only as long as the Skrullmageddon arc.

But I can't remember Laura ever really being shown as a tracker. She's an assassin, as much as anything. So she'd fit more into the killing Skrulls idea than the tracking missing heroes one.

Though I would rather that Marvel continued pretending that the X-Men live in their own world until the Skrull thing is over. Skrulls are dumb.

Because it could have just been Beast's imagination, reading the names in the extermination files.

But if Cece wasn't killed there, then the question is... where is she? With Sinister?

One theory mentioned was that her brother helped her disappear. She never wanted to be a mutant and after going through the most dreadfull experience a mutant can go through i can fully understand if she decided to vanish from sight. Doubly so if she has lost her powers during M-day.

I realise that but like i said it didn't really look like her. I don't rightly recall, did he actually read her name and her fate, because it seemed more of a general description of events coupled with the knowledge Cece had been incarcerated there rather than a clear cut:"Cecilia Reyes was shot dead on date x".

Unlikely. Given he's angry at the X-Men because they don't know where she is either.

I know, but given that we haven't seen him put any effort in finding her he might just be playing the part of worried sibling. If he doesn't show any concern for her disappearance Cece's cover would be blown in no time.

It's far from a perfect theory, i realise that but i can see a writer using a plot like that to return her if he wants the character.

Just because a character isn't appearing at the moment, doesn't mean they should be dragged out of limbo and have a hole blown through their head simply in order to shock people. Every character is someone's favorite, even if they arn't A-Listers. So just willy nilly killing them just for shock value is really sort of sad. It's not resurrections that make death meaningless, it's the pointless deaths that are more to blame.

I think the reason for that was Cable's death was very open ended and it was obvious there would be a ressurection. As for Jean it looked like a more nail in the coffin thing especially with Planet X's ending. I haven't a clue where Marvel is going with all of this. I mean does the xmen need to be disassembled? There are officially only 198 mutants left, about 300 in the most recent story line. How much more can they be disassembled? Evey time they've been given a little advantage like technology or a home in the pacific, they've had it torn from under them. I know the writers think that essence of the mutant story is strife against the rest of humanity but I'm getting tired of all these losses. Can't they get and keep a win?

How come no one ever complains about non sense resurections unless it's Jean who was resurected once. Colossus was cremated and scattered over his farm...

I was glad they killed collosus. He was such a sad character by then.

You know, I was really excited to see how this was going everything was going to turn out after Messiah Complex. Ever since Morrison stopped writing X-men it's become a roller coaster ride (not the good kind, more of the "ok I've had enough of this" kind) of different writers all trying to put their mark on the teams to the point where it's become a jumbled mess. When I heard that Messiah Complex was going to streamline everything again, I was happy.

After seeing this though, my expectations have lowered some. Maybe there's an interesting twist to this new X-force that will intrigue me enough to pick it up, but for now I could care less about those characters and what they have planned for them.

Gutted? This must be like when people use Bad to mean Good. :D
No, it's definitely when bad means bad. New Warriors is a disaster, and the writer has completely missed the point of Angel and Beak--or he's ignoring it.

I think it looks awesome and I for one can't wait to see who else is on the team. I hope Hepzibah is, I like her.

"Alonso: Individually, they’re killers, but together? Look out."

Dear god what are they doing to Rahne in messiah complex? Sounds like someone might become an Athiest! (Or crazy.)

"Alonso: Well Cable's back, that's for sure - the only question is when: the past, the present, or the future?"

I wonder if his nineties style uniform is a hint?
