Hi there,

So last night, I popped in a copy of CoD 2. My 360 tried to load it, it kept saying "reading" for about 2 minutes. Thinking that it was the disc, I loaded Burnout, which loaded correctly, no problems. So I tried loading CoD 2 again. Same thing happened, "reading" for about 2 minutes. Suddenly weird lines appeared on my screen (while on dashboard.) I popped out CoD2 and turned off my 360. When I turned it on again, I could hear the 360 logo loading, I heard the dashboard come on, I heard my gamerprofile log in, but no video. My TV screen was black. I tried loading about six times, anf the same thing. I can hear the 360 working, but there's no video. I checked all the cables to make sure that they are okay, and they appear to be fine.

Strangely, Im not getting any red lights which would mean some kind of hardware failure. I dont have my 360 on xboxlive, so it cant be any software glitch , unless it came from the CoD 2 I loaded. Any ideas?

I have a BestBuy warranty, so Im not too worried...yet.

"Um okay" what?

Just wanted to see if anyone might have an idea as to what went wrong or if anyone had had a similar problem. That is what a message board is for, right?

sorry. :o

I think I know what you're talking about. When I start my 360 up, the logo sound is just fine but I get the "weird lines" for a few seconds, then it's smooth sailing from there.

So far, it's froze up on me twice and I just swapped it out after my old 360 got the red rings of death. Thank god Microsoft has a great warranty deal.

I think you get the red lights when you don't give your 360 a break and it over heats and stuff.

I'm not sure why it'd take 2 minutes to load a game.

I think you have a rotten 360, once it starts freezing on you over and over and flashing red lights, replace it. I wouldn't worry, I'm sure you'll know when to replace it during your warranty. :)

How long have you had your 360 and how long do you play on it?

Just wondering.

Do you have any other games besides COD 2 and Burnout? If so, check them all. It sounds like the COD disk might have a problem.

I've had a similiar problem with a 360 game failing to load. It was a rental, so I took it back and asked them to run the disk through their cleaner machine thingy (to clear it of scratches). Any rental place should be able to do it, but they might charge like 3 bucks.

Is it a new COD 2 disk, or one that you've used many times before?

If it makes you feel any better, I'm pretty sure that this error is in no way related to RROD. My old system never had this error.

well I been on xbox.com forums and you should see how many people are posting with the same issue Im having.

I bought my 360 in Feb, 2007 and it was manufactured in Oct,2006. It's less than One year old. I rarely play it, maybe 7-10 hours a week. I dont have xboxlive so Im not downloading anything for hours. I keep it out in the open under a window fan. Oh well. Im bringing it back tomorrow to Best Buy and get a replacement via their warranty. I may have to buy a new warranty for this new console, which Ill gladly do seeing as how defective the 360 hardware is. It's too bad that the 360 is so faulty because there are soooo many great games on it.

Well, I guess it's better to be safe then sorry.

I too feel a bit love/ hate about the 360.

An excellent system for it's software and XBL service, but Microsoft really did kinda rush the 360 out as cheaply and quickly as possible, imo. I mean, even the headsets suck balls when compared to the original Xbox headsets.

And this RROD BS is ridiculous. I have never, in all my years of gaming, had a system bust on me.

Kinda pisses me off, but oh well. I mean, Wii and PS3 are having hardware failures too.

Good luck to you, sir/ madame
