With less than a week to go until it's out and mostly positive reactions about the preview pages, will you be buying X-Men: Emperor Vulcan?

With Havok, Polaris, Rachel, Ch'od, Raza, Lilandra, Deathbird, Korvus and the Imperial Guard!

No unless if Emma or Scott makes a guest appearance.

So no.

Affirmative. 'Cause it features Rachel. :D

I hope it will have a nice space opera feel, like the 'Rise and Fall' FAILED to have, in my humble opinion. I hope it won't be too decompressed, but from the first issue it will be hard to tell, because first issues are usually meant to just set up the situation anyway.

It's got three X-Men in it that I do like, but the rest of the characters, and the whole Shi'ar thing is just dull.

I've never liked the space adventures. I can't remember any of them that have't been either boring or stupid. Though this one is written by Chris Yost, so that's a reason to be optimistic. New X-Men continues to be my favourite Marvel book.

I hope he's got death scenes all lined up for Vulcan and Korvus. And a return to earth for Havok, Polaris and Rachel, just in time for the reordering of the teams after MC.

caney
09-08-2007, 11:50 AM
Yes!

Havok is the bestest Summers. I like that Polaris is very very far away from my Bobby. And Yost is half the writing team of my favorite X-book over the last few months. Plus I've invested too much into this story already to not see the conclusion.

I have high hopes for this mini!

As much as I love Lorna, this really isn't rocking my world.

I would definitely buy it if I had a 100% guarantee that Lilandra will die horribly during this arc. That woman is such a waste of space (though she still hasn't attained Jubilee levels of pointlessness.) What has she done apart from polish Charles' slaphead every now & then??? If I knew that Deathbird would bitch slap her through an airlock & then Vulcan would also die, overwhelmed by his own crapness, then I would pick it up.

But, its probably going to be lots of Vulcan posturing, lots of Rachel whining & fawning over that bloke with a big chopper & not enough Lorna character development.

Rachel spoilers for next week's Emperor Vulcan #1

Rachel says she broke up with Korvus because they are too different. Later Rachel reveals that she had a talk with Lilandra and discovered that some sort of Secret Order within the Shiar are the ones that ordered her family killed and when she finds out who they are she'll make them pay.

At the end Rachel uses her telepathy to learn that the name of a new threat they encountered means "Death to all Shiar".

Hopefully, if enough people get this mini, then Marvel might notice the trio's popularity and bring them back to earth.

Unfortunately, this mini selling well would most likely have the opposite effect and keep Rachel, Alex and Lorna in space in a Starjammers ongoing series. :(

Boycotting the series wouldn't likely to bring them home either.

Maybe if in the last issue Alex, Rachel and Lorna don't return home, we all boycott that issue. Otherwise, the messages is that the Starjammers and Vulcan will sell. Obviously, the series doing well will get Marvel’s attention, but a large drop will have them scratching their heads wondering why. Perhaps that gets the point across.

This is one of those books that are really geared towards trade collections but I'm going to buy it because I'm pretty interested in what's going to happen there and I'm curious as to where Chris Yost is going to take Ed Brubaker's ball and roll with it.

That is so very true.

There has been three different Lorna characterizations over the years. Her first was as Princess Lorna/Magneto the Second, then there was her 70s-80s Havok's girlfriend/wallpaper characterization, and finally her X-Factor characterization.

The perfect Lorna for me would be a mix of M2/Princess Lorna with X-Factor Polaris.

Completely agree, if it wasn't Yost I wouldn't be getting it. Vulcan already had 18 issues wasted on him and none of those were anything special. Saying that it did have some good points, my only issue was that it seriously lacked resolution considering it took twelve issues to come to that 'conclusion'.
