I don't mind it in Astonishing. Whedon manages to write it with a bit of charm, though there's not much depth.

It's not a big enough issue for me to have a strong opinion either way about it. They're both characters I find appealing enough, and Kitty has had a tragic enough history that it's nice to see her happy for a change.

I'm not really bothered where the relationship goes, as long as it doesn't become a big angst-fest.

Whedon does have that tendancy to kill his main central points off, especially in martyr-type fashion (so now she can save Colossus at the cost of her own life). And it's not like anyone else today (other than Claremont, and he already has an alt-version lined up for Exiles) has much interest in her anyway...so it's either kill her or put her back in the nowhere box for a couple of years when Whedon is done.

Whedon may even take a little pleasure in being the first one to off her 616 mainstream version after nearly 28-years of real-world time.

I doubt that would be the biggest consideration of them getting married. I'd think the reason they would want to marry would be to have children. Both Kitty and Peter would probably like to settle down and have a family, but they're also both realistic enough to know that they are never get that chance.

He never really cut loose when he was an Acolyte though. I've always felt that even then he was holding back. He may not be the leader type, but he has shown that he's a force to be reconed with. Agreed, Kitty is a favorite of mine, but this relationship is just her basically reliving her preteen crush thing all over again. I don't mind them friends with benefits, but I hope it doesn't get to the point where they get married.
