Michael Lark has been the regular penciler for Daredevil from issue #82 up to the current issue.
How do you assess his artwork in the Daredevil series so far ? There is a poll so please vote your opinion. However, please kindly back up the reason why you voted that way.
For example:
Comment on the Elements of his art form. By this I mean the components that he uses to create the actual piece of art: Like his Lines, Shape, Form, use of Space, Texture, Value, etc.
Comment on the Principles of his art form. By this I mean his the different ways he can organize a piece of art, and also how the elements of art can be arranged for different effects, and create composition: Like his Rhythm, Movement, Balance, Contrast, Variety, Emphasis, Harmony, Unity, Pattern, etc.

I love Alex Toth.
So it's only obvious that I dig Michael Lark's style so much.
He's excellent at storytelling. He's got solid, highly competent drafmanship. He can really draw a man's suit like only the great -Toth, Alex Raymond...- wera able to (most superhero artists seem only able to draw tights, and tights without shoes, I should add). He creates higly believable urban sets. You really believe you are in a Law Office, you really believe you are in a dark city alley. And all that without being as slave of photography (Photo is photo, drawing is drawing)
He draws each character with a distinctive appearance and body attitude: excellent charactherization.
He also draws Foggy fine :p . Take my word, as in the suit issue, not many superhero artists are able to draw fat or tubby men. Also, continuity-wise, his Foggy is consistent with other previous Foggies as the ones drawn by Colan, Maalev or Mazzuchelli)

Lark & Bru are just as perfect a fit on DD as Maleev & Bendis.

i gave it 3 Stars. I think his art works great at DD no doubt, but i liked Maleev'sart more and i would give Maleev's art 4 stars so there are only 3 Stars for Lark left.

I like it. Mind you, I like Maleev's more, but Lark is nice to have on DD.

He's no Maleev, but still works perfectly here.

One of the things I like of Lark above Maalev, is that he draws every pannel, every character anew... Maalev is a fine artist, and I like him a lot, too, but he's bit bent on abusing Photoshop (i.e. the same face appearing in different pannels, etc)
I voted he exceeds compared to other Marvel artists because he seems to have a really strong understanding of the foundations of art, rather than just. I just read an excerpt of Marvel Spotlight where he and Ed Brubaker go over the first 5 pages of Daredevil #82. It really showed how much thought and creativity he puts into each panel. He has a good sense of panel flow and how to do a good layout. His anatomy is almost always spot on. He is good with angles, composition, action, and perspective. His cityscapes are beautiful. He always draws very solid scenery and it looks real. My only gripe would be with his linework. I wish his lines were tighter, more detailed and less rough-looking.
I don't really understand his process, I've seen some of his work and it looks like he uses more photography than you would be able to tell. I think he said it was his own photography, though. Here's an example of what I mean.

I don't think he's the best artist at Marvel. But he's very talented.

The more I read DD, the more I begin to notice more detail and nuance in Lark (and Gaudiano)'s art. I'm absolutely enjoying their work tremendously, and i'd go as far as to say they're my favorite art team working in a book right now. The only one that comes close is maybe Aja on IIF. But I really can't think of any other team that consistently churns out great looking stuff (on a reasonable timeframe).

I would'nt say he's the best, but his art works GREAT with daredevil.

I like Lark's work yet still would prefer to see some Cary Nord do some more issues to DD if possible.

Cary Nord is one of my favourite DD artists.
I wouldn't mind him do a one-shot or DD special... And I wouldn't mind Karl Kesel to write the script for that. (Lord, I miss those happy days!)

Would not that be grand?
From my fingers to the Powers that Be ears, Yes, Please!
I think Michael Lark is a supreme artist. 4.5 stars.
Daredevil has been, for some time now, with equally great art and writing.
The best all around title this decade so far I think...

Lark is a great fit in the noir-ish style like Maleev before him. Do you think he's better than Maleev on Daredevil ?

Frankly Marvel always make noise over their Hitch, Finch and so forth. But to me their best artist is Michael Lark over his work on DD. By a mile. I would follow him to Hell and Back. And I even prefer his work over Epting on Cap. And that's saying a lot given that CA has been my favorite book since Brubaker relaunched it.

You just mirrored my feelings. Lark may be not a "hot" or "fashionable" artist, I mean, he's not the name which will automatically hype an announcement of an artistic team... I mean quite often there's big publicity about hot writer X and Hot artist Y overtaking series Z... You may not get that kind of buzz with Lark.
But he truly doth deliver the goods. I said.

Yea. His work is so phenomenal. With a few lines there and there I find what he's doing more realistic and powerful than Hitch.

I voted 5 stars.
I think he is great not only in DD but everything i have read of him. He is one of few artist i follow whatever they do.
His style isnt so limited to Noir/crime comic books. I like that he can do well on superhero style comic too.
I only wish he did more comics.
Would be awesome if he drew Max Punisher,IF,Criminal sometime :)
