Chris gave a reading at the Barnes and Noble in Framingham, Mass. and I had the good fortune to meet him and ask a few questions about Baltimore and what it was like to work with a certain Mr. Mignola. And yes, I asked about what the next collaboration with Mignola would be, but it seems The Powers That Be have decreed that it remain a secret for now. Where's a Champion when you need one?

Also speaking was Toni L.P. Kelner, fellow horror writer and editor of the vampire-themed anthology Many Bloody Returns (http://www.amazon.com/Many-Bloody-Returns-Charlaine-Harris/dp/0441015220), which includes a story by Chris himself. The theme is--get this--vampire birthdays! The next anthology is apparently going to be about werewolves and Christmas--which sounds pretty darned cool if you ask me.

I'd just like to thank Chris for being such a fun and gracious speaker. A good time was had by all. And there was cake!

Interesting. Appreciate the report.

So, Mr. Golden...how about doing a reading in Georgia some time? :)

I don't fancy myself a dope, and this capitalized version of a word which normally wouldn't appear as such smacks of clue worthy material. :D

When I met him at SDCC the woman in front of us let lose, and called him a few choice words. Then Chris laughed about it, and Mike said "There goes one book we won't sell".

Sorry I missed that exchange. I'll bet she bought two copies anyway- one to read and one to store for posterity. :) We fans may be vocal and even less than pleased at times, but that doesn't hinder the fact that we are still fans.

Tangent about Framingham: I ordered sweet iced tea in a restaurant there, and the waitress looked at me like I was from another planet. No wonder they threw all the tea in the Harbor.

One of these days I will get to meet Golden and Mignola and I'm afraid everything I've wanted to say over the past decade will all gush out at the same time and I will appear as a blabbering idiot.

I am hoping their years of experience in dealing with the public have given them the ability to decipher the mad babblings of people into the intended admiration and appreciation of their art.

Actually it's just a Buffy/Angel reference...Chris has written a few Buffy books. In the Buffy universe, heroes like Buffy and Angel are "Champions," who work for "The Powers that Be."

Sorry to tease you ;)

Nah, I wasn't teased. My comment was meant mostly as a *wink, wink*. ;)

Either that, or they'll just smile and nod their heads. :D

Either that, or they'll just smile and nod their heads. :DI know. That's what I'm afraid of. I get that enough in life. Maybe I should just write a letter and stay clear.

Yeah--sweet tea is a really Southern thing. I didn't see it regularly 'til I lived in North Carolina, and I haven't seen it (outside of specifically southern restaurants, anyway) since. As a rule, any state that doesn't have Waffle Houses also won't have much in the way of sweet tea.

Think I may go out and get Baltimore :)
Saw it in a comic shop opposite the British Museum called Orbital Comics, but I'll have to find it up North now.

There is a Christopher Golden and Mike Mignola interview here btw - http://www.randomhouse.com/bantamdell/video.html (was the top one when I last checked)
