I like Carlo Pagulayan, don't get me wrong, but besides a recent cover I've seen, he's failed to really blow me away like a "great" artist would. Judging by the fact that not many bother commenting about his art, I'd say he's not wowing many, despite being quite decent work. He's not fast enough to get away with being less than great. The difference between a great artist (like Gary Frank) and a good artist (like Carlo Pagulayan) isn't hard to see in the recent WWH issues. Here are a few that I'd like to see.

John Byrne - He drew the best version of the creature in the mid 80's. His recent commissions tell me he and the Hulk are still a perfect match. Plus, he'd be great at handling all of the guest stars.

George Perez - I'd luuuuuuvvvvv for this to happen. He's do a great Hulk (or Thor or Spider-Man), but Marvel never tried him on very many things. Future Imperfect is PERFECT Hulk art. Too bad he's DC exclusive.

David Finch - He draws an awesome version of the Hulk, and with the movie coming out, just like Marvel put Deodato on the series last time, I think they may do so again using another artist.

Greg Capullo - I want this guy at Marvel doing his best McFarlane!

Chris Weston - I think his style could give an amazing retro feel to the series.

Scott Kolins - I really think he is ready to explode on the scene, and that might have been delayed with him leaving Marvel. The Hulk would be a great vehicle for his style, which reminds me of McFarlane, though not in the same way Capullo does.

Dale Keown - Yeah, right...

Paul Pelletier - This is a very realistic coice, if Marvel doesn't go for the David Finch level artist. Pelletier would be an excellent choice, actually, but he just doesn't sell like the superstars.

Jackson Guice - I'd take him on ANY series. One of the best of the best! His Hulk in recent issues of Iron-Man was a great fit.

Brandon Peterson - Why the heck not? He has basically toiled away with lesser mini series projects since he became exclusive. Marvel used to have enough confidence in him to put him on X-Men. He'd do a great Hulk.

John Romita Jr. - Anytime he wants to, I'd sign him up for YEARS.

Howard Chaykin - I think it could work.

Joe Quesada - For just an arc.

Rob Liefeld - He actually draws a better Hulk than most people do.

I personally love Carlo Pagulayan's Hulk. It's not only beautiful art, but it captures the power and ferocity that the Hulk should be portrayed with. Alot of artists do get it wrong and draw him as just another powerful superhero, but others like Pagulayan, Romita Jr., Hitch, Sal Buscema and Herb Trimpe get that he's both a hero and a monster.

On your list, I agree that Kolins excels at this sort of thing and I'd like to see him do a run on Hulk. But Liefeld? I'll be nice and say nothing, since I really can't say anything nice.

Judging by the fact that not many bother commenting about his art, I'd say he's not wowing many, despite being quite decent work.I've commented on his work a few times, actually, and even put him on my list of Marvels top 10 artists (on one of those "Who are your Top 10?" threads over on the Marvel forum), so yes, I think Pagulayan is amazing. I don't think he's drawn a bad issue of IH yet. Same goes for Aaron Lopresti, who kept pace with Pags splendidly throughout PH.
Best tandem art team since Steve Epting and Mike Perkins.

As for the rest of your suggestions....

John Byrne - There was a time that Byrne was at the forefront of the industry, but art in comics has advanced enormously since then. What was amazing in the 70's would, to some, seem mediocre today.

Just check out Hulk Annual '99 (which was, to my knowledge, the last Hulk story Byrne drew himself) ...It was atrocious. Completely uninspired, by-the-numbers sequential art.
Byrne is the only one on your list I completely disagree with.

George Perez - George Perez can draw anything he wants. ;)

That said, he was great on Future Imperfect, and I have faith that he could do the Green Goliath justice.

David Finch - Finch would indeed do an awesome Hulk. The story would have to be much more action oriented, though. Finch's weakest point is probably talking heads.

Greg Capullo - He wrote and drew a series for TMP called "Kreech" that I really liked, and the art was amazing. I could see G-Cap on IH...

Scott Kolins - It would bring the series a much more cartoon-y, surrealistic feel...but I like Kolins' work.

Dale Keown - Been there, done that.

John Romita Jr. -JRjr is great, but after WWH, I'd like to see someone else take a crack at the main title.

Joe Quesada - For just an arc.I'd buy it. Just picked up the Spider-Man: One more Day sketchbook, and you know what? Quesada may just be the best artist at Marvel right now. Funny, considering he runs it.

Rob Liefeld - He actually draws a better Hulk than most people do.Hulk'd have Double D's, Picasso anatomy...and he'd be real, reeeeaal wrinkly.

Unless they get Dale Keown back, I think Pags is an excellant Hulk artist, and is welcome to stay as long as he likes. His Hulk is great.

I agree. It was the Professor Hulk. This one is a tad bit different so I dont think Frank really fit in here.

All those names, and not one mention for Andrea Divito? He is drawing the best Hulk out there right now (imho).
