I want to know what you think is the best books DC has to offer currently and which ones are really worthwhile to pick up? I know everyone has vastly different reading tastes but it would be great to know what the majority of readers like to read.

Must Haves

52
I Have every single issue and probably is the highlight of my collection , the story is fantastic, artwork is consistent and welll done for it being a weekly and written by the 4 Best Writers in DC , Johns , Morrison ,Waid and Rucka and the covers by J.G. Jones is just amazing. The TPB's are cool too with alot of extras such as writers input and early sketches.

All Star Superman
The Best Superman reincarnation in last decade , Morrison again shows why he is one of the best writers right now by taking the Man of Steel to his roots but also giving him a very modern spin. He writes Jimmy Olsen perfectly unlike like the BS that is in Countdown. Quitely's artwork is fantastic and is the highlight of the series.

Sinestro Corps Storyline (Green Lantern & Green Lantern Corps Titles)
Forget Amazons Attack this is DC's Big Summer Event. The Sinestro Corps Special was an action packed extravaganza that set the tone for the storyline and the issues of Green Lantern and Corps hasn't let up.

The Spirit
To Bad Darwyn Cooke's run ends with issue 12 as every issue so far has just been fantastic. Featuring stand-alone stories so anyone can start reading from any issue , Cooke's writing and art is a great tribute not only to the character but also the artist and writer that created the character.

Worthwhile Reads
Justice Society of America
Eaglesham's artwork is fantastic and the new characters they introduced are great such as Damage , Captain Steel , and Wildcat's Son. The Kingdom Come story line coming up in October will be amazing.

Checkmate
Haven't read many issues but enjoyed what i've read none the less and have heard many good things about this series from others.

Jonah Hex
Just like Checkmate i've read only a handful of issues but enjoyed every single one and I haven't read or heard a bad thing said about this series.

So Far So Good

Booster Gold
Only been one issue but the one issue kicked alot of ass and Dan Jurgens on pencils drawing the character he was meant to draw.

Black Adam
8 issue mini-series on the most badass character in the DCU.

Excellent choices. I'd add in Paul Dini's run on Detective Comics: at least a Worthwhile Read in most peoples' eyes and a Must Have in mine.

Blue Beetle is one of the best books out there, let alone from DC only. Checkmate, aside from that Outsiders storyline, is also excellent work.

All-Star Superman is the best Superman book of the past decade or more but far too infrequent to really count towards anything. However, Sinestro Corps War is incredible and some of Johns best work to date and something any comic fan should pick up.

JSA is easily DC's best team book and my absolute favourite comic right now. I just love this team.

I love GL and GLC. The Sinestro Corps promises to be DC's best story this year.

All-Star Superman is a joy to read. It manages to be new and exciting as well as fun and nostalgic.

Both Blue Beetle and the Atom are just all-out fun reads.

Birds of Prey has been excellent under Gail Simone, but she's left to do Wonder Woman. I believe Sean McKeever is taking over, so hopefully that will be a good sign.

It's a little less recent, but I think Seven Soldiers of Victory should definitely be on the Worthwhile Reads list, especially for people who've read 52 and wished all its story threads had come together into a single climax (I loved 52, but I was disappointed when I realised it wasn't all going to somehow become one grand storyline in the end). Morrison's writing won't be to everyone's tastes, but the sheer power it developed, the force of all seven storylines slamming into you when it all comes together... I've never read the like of that. A minor side-joy to that is the lovely but very distinct art styles on each of the miniseries, which were a great showcase for how it's not just a matter of having good art, but good art that matches the story being told (and Ryan Sook can draw Zatanna for me any time, oh my).

Currently coming out, I'd say All-Star Superman and The All-New Atom are the two best. I'm enjoying the current Batman and Detective Comics stories, but I haven't been following them prior to these arcs so I can't comment on those.

I'm giving Booster Gold a tryout for two or three issues; I liked issue one more for its potential than its actual quality. Likewise with Metal Men.

Jonah Hex is on my "to-check-out" list, as is Shadowpact (I did pick up and enjoy the recent issue with Zatanna et al.)
