I gotta say I love Barnabus Collins from "Dark Shadows."

The 1990 relaunch of that show was one of the first 'grown up' shows I got to watch, and he scared the crap out of me, while at the same time having a real since of pathos with the 'curse of immortality' and what not. Nostalgia is probably a factor, but I'm still hardpressed to find a vampire I prefer.

You can't dispute Christopher Lee and Bela for classic Dracu-goodness

I like classic Barnabus too. He's so genteel he makes Bela Lugosi's Dracula look like a drooling thug.

DAMN! I just chekced NETFLIX and they have only the second disc of the two disc series. Might be worth it though.

Hell yes. Near Dark is the shiznit. I'll also throw in Lance Henriksen's Jesse Hooker only because it's Lance friggin Henriksen as a vampire.

Several future Aliens stars in this film.

Kindred: The Embraced is quite good. Which leads me to the great first two seasons of Forever Knight, with Gerain Wyn Davies as Nicholas Knight, and the deceptive Lacroix played by Nigel Bennett. Then, the third season happened. Ewww.

I enjoyed David Bowie and Catherine Denevue's characters in The Hunger. Duncan Regher in The Monster Squad was a great tribute/update of Bela's version. He made it his own.

Yes, you should absolutly watch the Herzog version of Nosferatu.

You should make sure to watch it in the original German with the English subtitles.

It is an amazing film and Kinski is an amazing actor, and along with ol Max Schrek the greatest of all vampires.

In the movie Max Schreck(Willem Dafoe) was a genuine vampire, and director Murnau(John Malkovich) turned a blind eye when his starlets turn up dead, drained of their blood.

I'd nominate James Marsters' Spike, keeping in mind that he was better when he wasn't hung up on Buffy.

I think it began on Fox (the network which cancels shows quickly), was not renewed, and HBO planned to pick it up.

My idea was after Mark Frankel's death was have the new season start with Luna and Caitlin's wedding (OMG breaking da rulz!!) and then have the new Brujah guy (he showed up in the final ep - he was also in Brooklyn South gawddamit I can't remember his name) and his thugs just shoot up the place. You never really see Julian clearly just like the back of his head and flashbacks. Julian bites it (no pun intended) and throws everything into a tailspin.

1985's Fright Night is an original premise as the seemingly handsome new neighbor turns out to be a blood sucking vampire!

http://www.impawards.com/1985/posters/fright_night.jpg

College student Charlie tries to convince his girlfriend that all is not kosher with the new weird neighbor;the vampire also has a young man living with him too. Eventually, it is up to Charlie & Roddy McDowell's character to put things right which means they must destroy the vampire before he kills anymore people & transform them into the undead!

I rather liked Stephen Dorf's Deacon Frost (Blade). Maybe it's because he looks somewhat similar to Christian Kane (Lindsey on Angel), but he was quite the bad ass in that Blade movie.

Other notable mention would be Spike from Buffy. Fawning over Buffy, Season 2 Red Shirt and Leather Jacket, chasing a Buffy impersonator in Europe, I don't care. Any Spike is a good Spike as far as I'm concerned. ^.^

Vamp (http://youtube.com/watch?v=U09CQtMPusA):

http://services.windowsmedia.com/dvdcover/cov150/drt100/t121/t12139cymnx.jpg

Vamp is comedy/horror hybrid as it centers on Katrina (Grace Jones)--a 2,000 year old vampire--who owns a club in the red light district; several college frat boys come looking for a stripper for their party only to discover a club full of vampires instead! They fight for their lives until the day breaks.

The vampire's care taker is just that. He looks after the house during the day & is at his master's whims when he awakens at night. He was shown to be not exactly a zombie since he retained his own will & youth. He's not a vampire. Just something inbetween.

I agree 110%. The great William Marshall brought a lot of depth and grace to his portrayal of Prince Mamuwalde. He elevated the movie beyond a cheesy blaxploitation film, and surely FFC was thinking of this movie, with the subplot of Vonetta McGee as the reincarnation of Mamuwalde's long lost love, when he layed on the sappy romance in Bram Stoker's Dracula!
