Which was your favorite Sci-Fi/fantasy/horror anthology series? That is series that didn't have a continual story, but was a different story from one episode to another.

Is there any answer other than The Twilight Zone?

Maybe the Outer Limits?

Err Sorry I screwed up, I meant to turn this into poll, hold on a second. There, now I know that Tales from the Darkside and Night Gallery are more Horror then Sci-Fi, and Tales from the crypt is really horror, but I figured I'd include them.

FWIW, The Twilight Zone has had three TV incarnations, the original, a 1980s version on CBS and most recently on the late UPN.

Yeah I'm aware of that but most of those incarnations didn't last very long, so I guess you can kind of lump them into one show. The reason I have the two outer limits seperate is becomes the '95 version managed to stick around for 5 years. Be that as it may I was more of a Zone fan, though my old man is a bigger fan of the Outer Limits.

Yes the first was very popular, the second not as much, I think the show lost something with the passing of Rod Serling.

I never saw Twilight Zone, so I voted "Outer Limits" 2005.

Well the Sci-Fi Channel runs it around 1 am every weeknight, and they like to run their annual Twilight Zone Marathon on New Years eve, or at least they use to.

Have you been living in a cave in Pakistan or somthin?
Twilight Zone is beyond classic, it's the very definition of classic.
You must spend some time getting to know the Zone bro. Guarantee you'll enjoy it. Can't say you know Sci-Fi till you watch the Zone.

Man, I loved all those shows, but I had to go with the classic "Twilight Zone". Both the original series and 80s revival were great.

I prefer Tales from the Crypt.
Tales from the Darkside has its moments too.

Now now, not everyone has the luxury of being able to catch episodes of the Zone anymore. Maybe he doesn't have cable.

Tales from the Crypt was great until the last season or so. at some point, they put a british spin on the series. that, in itself, isn't bad. but it also seems like they had a much smaller budget. some of the effects were really cheap. and the actors were lesser knowns.

This was a tough call. I ended up going with Tales From the Crypt.

For those who are in Canada and have Digital TV. NTV runs 3 episodes of the original Twilight Zone back to back at 1 am on sunday. That's actually 1 am Monday morning but we still think of it as Sunday. EST.

There's also Alfred Hitchcock presents , although it may not be sci-fi. They did do a special episode where they had a sherlock holmes story , James Bond story & a horror story , was pretty unusual at that time for that series hence why i still remember it.

Yeah but Hitchcock presents wasn't a sci-fi anthology, though now that I think about it neither was tales from the crypt, though tales from the crypt had fantasy elements in it.

Just watched a couple of episodes of the the orignal outer limits, wasn't impressed. But the original Zone still holds up.

Both the classic original Twilight Zone and the wonderful relaunch from the 80's both hold up really well with time and certainly get my vote.

Amazing Stories was great, Tales had comedically bad puns, the new Outer Limits had some nudity...but I had to go with the deservedly classic Zone.

I have Crypt seasons 3, 4, and 6. I didn't like seasons 2 or 5 that much. I'm hoping to view the 1970's movie soon.

I have voted for Twilight Zone. For the Rod Serlin's TZ (1959-1964).

But it's hard for me to choice between TZ classic and Outer Limits classic because I both like very much.
I have seen O.L. classic completely, and almost all the TZ classic (only 10 episodes not seen).
These 2 series are probably imho the best fantasy/sf anthologies series that I have seen.

Sadly in France the TZ classic episodes are not completely in dvd, and this version was too weak : not enough episodes by singles dvd (3 or 4... SiGh !), not original version with french sub-titles...).
I hope one day there will be a complete version with 1 saison by pack, and all episodes, and vostf...
Happily the 2 seasons of OL classic are now complete in 2 packs Dvd. That's great !

Twilight Zone color (1985)
I just have seen a part of the first season in dvd. Well, really not bad. Amazing that, 20 years ago, I didn't like very well... Ordinarily it's the opposite...
I don't remember if at the time I had seen all the episodes...
There is one thing that I'm sure : I don't like at all the generic (audio + visual). Perhaps it's the raison why I didn't like very much the serie... ?
I wait for the 2nd part of the first season.

The New Outer Limits (1995)
10 years ago, I liked very much, but sadly in my country only the 3 or 4 first seasons were broadcast on tv (well, I have not the cable/satellite...).
But now I'm happy because the first season (1995/1996) is going to go out in dvd on October 24th ! :)
I hope all the 6 seasons will go out in dvd !
For me, perhaps it's one of the best anthologies of the modern age...
But I have to see it again, and completely, to confirm because it was a long time... And I'm more hard in judgement now...

Tales from the Darkside.
20 years ago (Gob Damned, time passes quickly ! ) I have seen the first season (only season 1. The others have never been seen on our tv, sadly) . At this time I liked it. But I have never seen it again (our channels tv are poor sometimes... SiGh).
Honestly I don't have a lot of memories of it... Some snatches of episodes here or there... Impossible for me to say if it's really good or not...
I hope dvd, one day...

Tales from the Crypt : I didn't like very much at the time. Too much modern way perhaps... Not enough correct atmosphere, contrarly at Thriller for example...

Night Gallery : never seen, sadly. If it's equal to the Rod Serling's Twilight Zone, I have to get it...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_Gallery

Amazing Stories : I didn't like it very much at the time. Except 1 episode (with Robert Blossom, the ghost train...).

I think there are another anthologies which could be named here :

- Fox Mystery Theater aka Hammer House of Mystery & Suspense (1984/1986).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hammer_House_of_Mystery_%26_Suspense
http://www.tv.com/hammer-house-of-mystery-and-suspense/show/10190/summary.html

I don't know why it has been completely forgotten, because it was very good, imho...
I have seen it 3 times, I think... But not a lot of re-broadcastings in my country since 15 years at least... SiGh. I hope for DVD one day !

- Thriller (UK TV series : 73-76)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thriller_%28UK_TV_series%29

The 70's + Brian Clemens + suspens + psychological terror/supernatural...
I have seen few episodes in the 80's, and it was very hot ! Sadly I don't remember anything, and no rebrodcastings in more 20 years...
I hope for dvd !

- Thriller (US TV series : 1960-62)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thriller_%28US_TV_series%29
Never seen it.

- The Hitchhiker (1983)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hitchhiker
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085031/episodes

Do you remember it ?
I have seen a lot of episodes, but... I don't remember very well if it was more suspens, or terror... Perhaps a mix ?

- Monsters
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monsters_%28TV_series%29

Apparently, it was a spinoff of Tales From the Darkside, more based on the "monster of the week"...
Never seen it. And it seems that not much people had seen it because I have never heard of it in the talkings of tv series...

- The Ray Bradbury Theater
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ray_Bradbury_Theater
http://home.wlv.ac.uk/~in5379/rbt/rbt.htm
Only one brodcast in France, perhaps the first season... I think I had not seen it.

More old anthologies series : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Anthology_television_series

BV72 who wants more DVD (zone 2 for Europe, please) of this sort of anthologies !

Twilight Zone obviously. Terror Above 20,000 Feet and The Last Man were pieces of television history.

Twilight Zone was, and still is, one of the best and most well done sci fi shows of all time. To think, this show wasn't popular when it first aired, so ahead of its time, so ahead of its time

i have the entire series on dvd and love it. it wasn't as good as Tales from the Darkside but still very entertaining. it's also good for an early early performance by Steve Buscemi.
