I hope this upcoming issue at August 29 2007 will be, "Zombie action packed".:D
Which, the last issue was kind of a "rip-off"... "Kinda";)
But, seriously most of the publishers are advancing there comics into a monthly to a almost weekly comic.

That cover makes me nervous. I would never get that close to a zombie even if there was a chain link fence between us.
I think the whole purpose of issue 40 was to instill a sense of unease and prepare us for the serious #*%%*@^ that's about to occur.
My feeling is that we wont see a lot of our favorite characters survive the next arc. :( It's gonna be brutal I just know it.

Knowing that this is probably because of a backlog of books that needed to be printed before Comic-Con, I'm pretty excited to see this issue ship so soon after #40!

Sorry but, when is the Comic-Con? I really have no idea. I think it's over.

It was a couple of weeks ago but with everyone under the sun wanting to get their books printed in time for it, I think that TWD shipping schedule was more than likely affected. I would think that shipping monthly books weekly is not an ideal situation for either the publisher or the retailers. (Not that I'm complaining at all)

Sweet! Got my name in the letters page! Not hard to tell which one is mine... at least if your a GWAR fan. Anyways, what a cool ending to the issue, that chick is more loony then some of my ex girlfriends... not by much. And I am excited to see that the book has finally started the process of looking for an answer to the zombie hordes, though who knows how far that is going to go, with carol offering herself up as a free meal.

Yeah, I knew that she had gone pretty fugazi, but I gotta admit that I was a little surprised that Carol just walked up and let 'zombie barbie' just start munching. Too bad. I always go for the psycho chicks, its a definite character flaw but fun while it lasts.

I kinds saw Carol's fate coming while she was talking to Lori. Then she went and sewed some oats with Billy, so I thought maybe I was wrong....then Kirkman made it happen anyways. Brilliant..or twisted?
What a fantastic issue. They addressed the question from last issue regarding zombie target practice, which I thought was cool. Seeing Dale with all the weight he gained made me wonder if he wasn't going to go off the deep end soon. He seems to be seriously depressed about his age & agility, ever since the bite. Also, did you notice the hand tremor Dale had when Glen gave him his hat? Is that because of old age or is it a sign of worse things to come?
And, yes, I thought Maggie did look more plump this issue. Maybe the rumors about her being pregnant are true.
Swell issue, with a bit of exposed boobage to boot!

I thought this issue was just horrid.
Carol did a complete 180º since the first issue. I wonder if there is any character left that is not completely f*cked up or a moron. I mean, there are Glenn and Maggie, and I love both of them, but it's only a matter of time until they die or begin acting like jerks. Anyone remember how nice Carol was when this book first started?
And how stupid is Alice?? The whole plan didn't even make sense! How does she expect to find a cure?? She was scared to deliver Lori's baby and now she's suddenly a scientist?
So stupid.

Well, how many people would actually remain sane or nice after going through all they've been through and having no realistic possibility of things getting better? I'm thinking somewhere around none is just about right.
I did have one quibble with the issue though. The line "Dramatic much?" Really? Apparently, the character who said that has been spending lots of time on message boards and chatrooms and is picking up that cliched internet slang. Didn't their internet die like four years ago? Was that awful cliched phrasing really part of the slang lexicon four years ago? I don't think she would be using the phrase in the world Kirkman's created.
Also (maybe two quibbles), I've been on crutches many times and I never had a problem putting on a hat. So unless he's got someting else wrong with him (as someone guessed above), what's up with that?

She was scared to deliver Lori's baby and now she's suddenly a scientist?
That's a good point. I'm hoping she'll now take a Professor role, only instead of using coconuts, she'll start building phones and radios from zombie parts.

Y'know, I can buy that she needed a specimen. Isn't a doctor's role to treat & cure? There aren't any scientists around to do a proper study, so who is the most qualified of the bunch to even know where to begin? She may not find anything, but I can totally see this as plausible.

Yeah, I guess we needed a "SPOILER' warning in the thread title. Sorry about that.

-Jay  Holy CRAP! I knew Carol had lost it, but hot DAMN, that chick is nuts! I thought it was a perfect conclusion to her growing insanity. I didn't find it out of place, at all. Every single thing these people have ever known or taken for granted has been removed from their lives. They dead have come back to life to feast on their remains, and they have seen so much death and destruction and are under constant stress that how can you really expect anyone not to lose it?
I think Rick said it perfectly. There are no rules or expectations or norms anymore. This is completely unknown territory. This isn't a stressful day that ended; the fabric of civilization has collapsed, and people who were insecure and unstable before (i.e. Carol) have just LOST it under the constant stress.
Ever since Tyrone (I think that's his name, I forget ATM) left her for Michonne she has broken down. Mental illness and extreme stress-induced depression are no small order and I think people here may not fully appreciate the impact it can have on someone.
I think Kirkman 's doing a bang-up job. My favorite book on the market, period.
