TEEN TITANS: YEAR ONE! Karl Kerschl!

ok i was at fan expo in toronto yesterday, and i was waiting in line for a sketch from Karl Kerschl. and on his table was all this teen titans(origanl four) drawings. And he told me that its art from his new series hes drawing Teen titans:year one. And he also said this would be coming out in JANUARY.

I wish you guys could see his titans. THEY ARE SOO DAMM AmAZING! his aqualad is one of the best drawn aqualads ive ever seen. IT going to be a six part series, that has alot of stuff pulled out of the teen titans showcase. He told me that one of the main things in his series will be the gollum like creature that made robin think the titans were dead( its from showcase).
Also the rockband that turns evil will be in the series.

SO yea what you guys think of this series???

I'm interested, but I'm a little worried about what may have been retconned. I have the feeling that they've 'retconned the retcon' and Speedy is no longer an original member, but we'll wait and see. There's no idication from DC that this is coming out in August, it's not in the solicits.

Oh there's no doubt at all that its coming, that was announced months ago, but whether it will be released in Augest is doubtfull. Last I heard it was at the end of the year.

Ahh, no problem, January makes sense, but if Roy's retconned out of the already retconned origin, I'll be giving it a miss. Although I have heard he shows up in the series at some stage.

i dunno if roy shows up. all i know is that its like the showcase teen titans. and there are to main villians in it. Also does anyone know the writer of it? i never asked karl that.

yea i do think he should be on a bigger book. hes on a year one book cuz hes one of the most underrated artists

I like the idea that the four founding Teen Titans were proteges to four of the founding members of the Justice League, while Green Arrow and Speedy were both the first recruits to their respective teams.

For those complaining that Roy isn't there, remember he didn't appear that much during the first few issues of Teen Titans. Although he is considered one of the founders he made himself a reserve member until Aqualad quits the team.

Roy was retconned in as a founding member in a flashback in the final issue of Teen Titan's V1. I don't know that people are 'complaining' about him not being in the Year One, but rather questioning whether the retconned origin has now been retconned out and the original origin stands again.

I'd simply like to know for certain whether he will appear or not, because I won't bother with buying the mini if he's not there, but if he is in it I have to pre-order the mini because all my books have to be mail ordered and the store I order from doesn't get everything in stock, some books have to be specially ordered. I have heard he is in the book after the first issue, but no one from DC has confirmed this, so I'm not certain that what is happening.

The art is looking great. I would like to see Kerschl on Flash after he's done on this project.

Okay, well I'm on board with ths now. I emailed Karl re Speedy and he replied with this-

Hi Kim!
Teen Titans: Year One is scheduled to come out in January, and I think it's going to be released bi-weekly, so all six issues will be out in the span of three months. I'm three issues into drawing the miniseries now, and I happen to be working on a page with Speedy on it, so yes, sleep peacefully with the knowledge that Speedy is a core member of the fab five, and will be well represented. ;)

He's already asked fans if the beltline is drawn wrong, it's been pointed out thatit ends in a 'v' rather then looking like a 'tard, and he's been sent links thatshow the correct costume and hopefully he'll correct it before the book goes to print, it seemed to me that from his reply he intended to make those changes.

Just say NO to yellow leotards!!

The proper classic kid flash costume was a design masterpiece and should never be messed with. It was sharp. Robin, Speedy and Aqualad could only drool in jealousy. Dropping the beltline and turning it into a yellow leotard with red leggings is just LAME!

That said, I love the artstyle, I'm looking forward to this series a lot.
