One of the coolest characters, but at the same time one of the most underated in all of Marvel's heavyweights.

My all time favorite Hercules scenes was when he went nuts during the first Civil War battle, where Iron Man was pounding the living shit out of Cap mercilessly.

"OFF ME, YOU TRETEROUS FOOLS!!" as he swats away Doc Samson and She-Hulk, "HE'S KILLING HIM IN THERE!"

"HOLD ON CAPTAIN, I'M COMING!!"

It gave me goosebumps. I felt Hercules' desperation. It was one of the best scenes I've ever read, as I was completely sucked into the story and felt every blow. Not many fight scenes have gripped me like that one did.

Now that Cap's dead, why hasn't Hercules literally turned the planet inside out looking for answers?

Could the following targets survive against a demi-god gone mad?

Note- I'm going with the Immortal Hercules, and he's got his mace.

Iron Man and SHIELD
The US Army
The Avengers
Fantastic Four
X-Men (think World War Hulk X-Men):
New Avengers
Hydra
AIM
Dr Doom
Namor

How would these battles go down?

Not sure on the battles, but I agree that that was easily my favourite scene that I've read to have featured Hercules. You could see the loyalty and friendship that Herc had for/with Captain America and it was a really great example of what real friends would do for another.

Hercules was swatting aside some real heavyweights to get to Iron Man and it's a shame that Clor intervened, else Herc would have layeth the smackdown upon Tony.

It's no wonder they get along so well. Hercules was pretty much to the Ancient Greeks what Captain America is to the American people. He was the top hero of his time.

Except anything Cap can do, Hercules can do at Class 100+ levels.

And it was good to see Hercules give Iron Man a beating (albeit brief) in the next issue of that Civil War battle.

I'd love to see an unleashed Hercules take on Extremis Iron Man, with both of them going all out on each other.

Apart from Hulk, Sentry and Thor, I doubt there's anyone on Earth who can match Hercules for sheer physical power.

The thing with Hercules is that he can't fly and he doesn't have any range powers - with Thor , he has fly using his hammer , throw his hammer , call down lightning , use the godblast whatever and he has always used those to his advantage. Hercules is basically a dumb brute brawler.

In terms of strength , possibly Wonder man , Gladiator , sasquatch , Hyperion , Silver Surfer or colossus or maybe forgotten characters like Ikaris or Gilgamesh (who may or may not still be dead) of the eternals ? Iron man can probably enhanced himself for a short period or rigged up some sort of god armor. There's also the other gods like Leir the celtic thunder god , perun the russian thunder god and of course , there's also hercules brother , Ares who's currently with mighty avengers.

On top of all that, though, what probably sets Hercules apart from 'mere' bruisers like Sasquatch and Gilgamesh are the personality behind the powers.

Gilgamesh have optic beams besides just strength , he supposely ,like all eternals , should be able to fly although i can't say that i have seen him use flight during his time in the avengers from the few comics i read. I dare say that he's more vesatile than hercules.

Gilgamesh brawl with hercules when hercules bestow him "the gift" in an quasar issue.

I've seen this scene mentioned on the boards in a few places now. Which TPB is this collected in? I'd like to pick it up.

It was in Civil War #3 and #4 (#3 was his attempt at saving Cap, while #4 had him kicking Iron Man's arse).

I believe the entire Civil War was collected in one TPB. At least it was in Australia.

A lot of those could outthink him. Its different if he can ambush them.

I think Namor could take him in water. But Hercules' uncle is the god Namor worships, any writer ever do anything with that?
