Ok I have the xbox 360, the ps3 and now considering getting a wii and had a couple questions for you folks that own them. I had never played with a wii though.

Do you need a memory card like the gamecube to save games? And if so do you really need those 2gig ones or is that just for saving like the old nintendo games you download on?

Can you play gamecube games on the wii? If so, how the hell do you play them with the wiimote?, or do you just have to get used to it?

Is super paper mario worth getting?

No. There is a slot on it for gamecube memory cards though, but Wii games are saved onto the system like the Xboxs.

Yes. You can hook your gamecube controler into the Wii itself.

Is super paper mario worth getting?
GOD YES!

SPM is a bit overrated and bland at times. Don't expect a Paper mario TTYD (that game was memorable) but it's a funny game, lots of style and interesting ideas

plus, Bowser's dialogues are freaking awesome as usual

I thought wii didnt support HDtv, does it? I was going to get a s-video cable off ebay for it but if it will support my hdtv then Ill get a cable for it. Thought I saw something in the option menu for it.

Damn I must have played bowling for a hour and didnt notice the time hehe.

I want to play that new metroid now.

we all do.

The Wii does not support 1080i, 1080p, 780i, 780p. It will send 480p data to the HDTV if you have a Nintendo Wii component cable and change the graphics output under settings.

Also remember they have the N64 Paper Mario for download as well.

Honestly, the Virtual Console is great for me, I'm working through the SNES Zelda right now.

As for a game I'm working through Godfather, but I do keep coming back to Rabboids.

We got our Wii on release day (without a preorder no less!), and we've not regretted it at all. Between the VC, the GC compatibility, the internet feature, and the few quality (read non-tie in) games, its the console we're playing the most frequently.

My GC is currently on full time GBA mode. Since 5 dollars for trade in seems worthless, especially when I got the GBA player for like 15 dollars.

I'm between getting the PS3 and the XBOX Elite when I have the money (which would be after I've built up some money from the new job and after the price will inevitably fall again after Christmas).

My husband wants the Xbox 360 because we already have an Xbox so it would be a direct upgrade, and there are more games for it that he's interested in. I'd be interested in the 20 GB PS3 because it would, with the firmware changes essentially be a PS2 which we never got, and we both admit is the console we don't have with the most games we'd want.

But, yeah, neither of us have regretted getting the Wii at all. The only regret we've had was getting Red Steel instead of Call of Duty 3.

Ok, do you need to calibrate it or anything?

Mine when you point the wiimote at the screen like the hand on the menu is about 6 inches down from where I point it, like its off center.

I didnt know if this would effect games that use things like the wiigun thing for resident evil game thats coming out or whatnot.

I have the censor posistioned exactly in the center of the tv, its front is flush with the tv itself so its not sticking or hiding behind it and its level.

-------------------------

Anyone play the new metroid? Does it strictly use the wiimote controller? I really didnt like the last 2 metroids much but I will admit I was curious about this one if you get to use the controller and it works well in the game.

what about games like paper mario? how do you play those with a wiimote?

Thanks for answering all this crap. I only had mine a couple weeks and with the end of the school quarter I havent had alot of time to play with it.

In the options the Wii asks you where you've placed the bar. Then you can calibrate it if you wish, then again check your batteries, and then again don't be too close to your tv. I found that if I point the 'mote from right to the center of the screen it works perfectly, while it flickers a bit if I point it directly to the center

MP3 is all about the wiimote, and let me tell you it works wonderfully. Using dual analog again will be a pain in the butt because after you try how perfect is the new control system it will be very hard to enjoy other methods again

You put the wiimote sideways, using 1 to jump and 2 to use a Pixl, and the stick to move. By pressing the A button the visual goes from 2d to 3d, flipping the entire area. It's really a neat idea. It controls like a NES game with some minor differences
