So I got Madden 08 for the Wii this past week. I have been playing a ton on-line. I am sick of little sh#ts getting their as$ kicked and quiting. The last game I had the kid was ranked fair higher then me. I blew him away. He kept asking for a friendly quit but I want to get ranked higher. He eventually quit. The thing was their was 30 seconds left. What the hell man? I was running the clock! I wasn't trying to further blow you away! Why you quit and not let me get the win? Clearly with your 5-2 or something record other people had the common decency to last it out.

My record is currently like 3 and 9. Thats not to say I haven't been winning up wards of 15 games but people just quit once you go up by two touchdowns. This really pisses me off. Why are people like this. It totally kills the fun of playing on-line for everyone. I will never move up in ranking thanks to people like that.

DON'T DO THIS PEOPLE!!

Fa'Sho. It's aggravating, but something that's always gonna be. Might as well just deal with it.

I deal with the same crap whenever I play Smackdown vs Raw online. People like to quit or disconnect when they lose. Seriously, it won't kill them to take a loss.

Blame the developers for allowing quitters to avoid the loss in the first place.

They wouldn't do it if it didn't work.

I know some games do ding you for dropping out and give you puss points or something.

mario Strikers has it, and I believe Metroid Hunters, but I may be wrong

Wow. That bites. Even if the developer didn't put a quit thing in, they could just turn the console off. The dude you were going up against probably got the way he did by quiting all games he was loosing. There really is no solution to that problem.

Yes. There is.

Make the game so if a player drops out/leaves for any reason, it officially counts as a loss.

Sometimes people really do get disconnected. But I'd rather have a loss here or there from an accidental disconnection if it means people couldn't just quit to avoid a loss.

In the Smackdown games quitting the game counts as a loss but it won't give me the win.

I know Saint's Row gives you a rank up at least. And money. But you don't get losses. Which is why you'll see alot of "high rankers" in the top with very little losses in XBL. You just know that they quit out. Freakin' *******. This is one of many reasons (other than the players' behavior) why online games are getting bad credibility. Well in my opion anyway. But it is always fun to diss them after they quit out. Make them look like total noobs. (more than enough)

This type of thing mainly happens in Saint's Row as far as I know. Mainly because that game has BAD gliche problems like you don't understand. Gears of War had some problems too but not as bad as SR. They fixed the problems though. Now they just need to fix SR. At any rate, just deal with it and forget about it. Hopefully they will fix this problem. (Somehow)

The thing is in madden the person quiting does get a loss. The person playing against them doesn't get a win, and thus I can't move up with out winning. Also they give you a DNF percentage, or did not finish. Also if the person does disconnect from the game both parties get a loss.

On an ironic not: I was playing a kid today who quit in the fourth quarter. We had a great game going until I kinda took off. The ironic thing was his name was "NoMercyKid". He continually asked me for mercy to allow the game to not count. I wouldn't give it. I wanted the win, especially after the great game we had. He quit with 3:30 left. Stupid people man.

While part of me thinks there should be some sort of penalty that makes it cheaper to take the loss than to quit in mid-game, I have to think that this might penalize people whose connection to the game is lost through no fault of their own.

Of course, I don't know how much of an issue that is or if it would even be a problem as I don't really do any online gaming.

It occurs to me that online gaming would be a billion times more fun if losers couldn't quit in mid-game. It's not even about ranking (Who gives a ****?) it's a bout fair play. You win some you lose some. Suck it up. I suppose having a high ranking makes some people feel special, never mind the fact they only got there by quitting every time it looks like they might lose.

So let me get this straight, the person quitting gets a loss? So the only thing they gain by quitting is denying you a win?

Jesus, that's one of the saddest things I've ever heard of and a pathetic statement on the mindset of some of these kids playing online.

Yes. It is sad. It is pathetic. And it's annoying too.

Finally a thread dedicated to my online grief! That crap used to happen to me all the time man. Especially in last years madden. When i was playing it for the ps2 people would quit on me like 40% of the time. My record was lik 25-49. I would always get the person who wants to quit on me right when i was trying to break an 8 game losing streak!

The sad thing is on this years Madden I would say people quit on me like 70% of the time.

Since I initially posted this I figured out some things that kinda made me less angry. If the person does quit you can continue against the computer and still get your win. Not as fun but has helped my horrible record. I don't know if they get the deserved loss though. Also in the second half if you are up by at least two touchdowns, I believe may be more or less, you can "grant mercy" which gives you the win as well. Thus when they quit and I am left playing the easy computer by the second half I can grant mercy and get my win.

My record had improved to 12-14. Like six of those losses were me loosing my connection though.

I also had another weird thing happen. The warning for low battery in my controller came up (which wii eats batteries). It was just the warning but it disconnected me from the game and gave me a loss. I was killing the kid like 21 to nothing at the time. Made me so mad.

The Wii is great but they need to make a lot of improvements that I don't think they ever will.

I knew about the contunuing against the cpu, but thanx anyway. And when you beat the computer since the cpu is playing for the person that quit, when you win you your oppenent does get the loss.(at least that's how is was on the ps2)

Also i have a Wii and i was wondering do you have a netwrok adapter to connect to the internet? how are you doing it? I'd like to set up my Wii for wireless play but i was under the impression i had to buy a piece to connect

You need to buy a piece if your connecting directly into your modem. Otherwise you go to the wii system options or whatever. You then go to internet connections or something and do a search. It has an outstanding wireless modem that will pick up all you need. You don't need to buy a thing. The wireless modem far surpasses the one in my computer. In my building I pick up two on my computer. The Wii picks up ten.

It gets really annoying. I had the opponent up by 17 points and boy was he a trash talker. But whenever I started beating him and he didn't do so good after the second half, he quit.

ARGH!
