View Full Version : Should more writers become artists?

I was wondering what Steven's opinion was on the subject. It's a question I've been getting mixed responses to. Some say there's absolutely nothing wrong with supplementing your writing with your own artistic (ie pencils, inks, coloring, etc.) vision if you have the time and desire, others say that writers, especially beginning ones, should focus on one task if they ever hope to break in. I ask because I realize how hard it is to hook up with an decent artist on a barethread budget.

Also, does anyone else have opinions on writer/artists, as to whether their best work happens while they're doing their duel role or when they just focus on one side?

If they can draw well, and tell a story well through their drawing, sure. Why not?

If they can't, no.

Doesn't seem like much of a debate topic.
