View Full Version : Tony does this bug you?

I was curious how annoying is it when working on a book where the editor maps everything out for you. Do you mind working in that type of environment? Have you ever worked on a book that you felt the editor's had their hand in it so much that it was keeping you from telling a good story?

Also, I'd add the question: Have you ever edited a book and thought you were doing that to the writer?

I was too heavy-handed as an editor several times:
Editing Dan Jurgens on AQUAMAN
Editing Christopher Priest on SOLAR: MAN OF THE ATOM
and probably several other times where I didn't realize I was overstepping.
But i haven't yet felt overly controlled by an editor. I've usually been aware of how extensive the editorial direction will be when I took a job, so I never felt ambushed.
