From what I understand, Red 5 comics can "gun" for the Star Wars license all they want...but Dark Horse renewed a multi-year option on their Star Wars license just last year.
So unless the licensing business doesn't work the way I think it does (which is entirely possible), they're just going to be spinning their wheels.
