A lot of the remnant Pro-Reg/Stark-lovers/Hulk-haters and so-on are also quite vocal Punisher haters.

Yet let's look at what it says about War Journal #12

THE STORY:
With WORLD WAR HULK in full swing and New York shut off from the outside world, who's left to protect those left behind? Frank @#$%!@!* Castle, that's who -- and he's none too thrilled. As the insatiable MUNG THE INCONCEIVABLE rampages through lower Manhattan, Frank and Clarke help a small band of refugees hold back his relentless onslaught

The Punisher has ALWAYS killed criminals and protected the innocent. He's not a simple lunatic who kills all in his path like so many people claim he is.

Yet people compare him to Bullseye and other villains. It's quite sickening.

The Punisher has become if not always been vietnam's captain america. He trys to make the world right not by defending it with a shield, but by charging in with an M-16 while in the back of his mind still thinking he's in the jungle. I think marvel could have done a much much much better job of showing this with that punisher cap arc that they totally f-ed up.

But as far as a WWH tie in it's quite fitting, he's always been that type of character. While all the "super powered" heroes are trying to clean up yet another mess they've caused themselves, Frank is just trying to protect the innocent, who the big wigs seem to have forgoten over the last couple years.
