If this was just DC or Marvel having conflicting continuity in two different titles, I would excuse it for the normal laziness they now show to these type of things.
But Bill W. is the author of both books and he has an Excalibur sword in the hands of Fly, and another one sticking through Jack in his own book and in a Jack doll in Fables #64.
He's up to something. Thoughts?

Possible spoilers:
I think we are about to find out a bit more about how Fables' powers work.
Gary said that Jack's meddling with the movies has made him become the center of stories and I think Ghost's comments in #64 about how the plastic sword seemed to want to be in the Jack doll implies that something definitely having an effect.
Not to mention Jack having a sword through his gut is hilarious..
Also, who is the old man? Flycatcher? Trusty John? Merlin?

Perhaps it's a reference to the fact there are actually two "excaliburs" in Arthurian myth. The First one, the Sword in the Stone, is actually called Galatine, or perhaps Sequence, depending on the source. The Second one, the actual Excalibur, is given to Arthur by the Lady of the Lake.

No. Thats an error due to the english adaptation. Actually Malory used two french texts:
-The Merlin Vulgate, with the sword in the stone (christian version)
-The Merlin Huth, with the sword being given by the lady of the lake.(pagan version)
When Malory (or a lost manuscript between Malory and the two known versions of the french text) adapted it in english he kept the two versions, but in the manuscripts, thats either one origine or the other.
Given that both version are great, i'ld say that it is a good thing that Malory kept both of them, even if it lead the reader to think that there's two different swords. And maybe that in Malory version you could say that it is so.
Anyway if Willingham choose to use it for his own story thats a perfectly legit possiblity. Fables is his universe, with his version. Creative freedom is a good thing.

LOL, when I remember what my younger brothers did to their action figures...
Hmmmm. I wonder if Action Jack and friends can have their heads/arms/legs popped off and switched between action figures......

Well, Arthur broke the Sword in the Stone while fighting King Pellinore, leading the Lady of the Lake to give him Excalibur; but maybe the Sword in the Stone was reforged?
Or one could be Caladbolg, the legendary Irish sword from which Excalibur may derive.

I highly doubt Willingham made a mistake. It is probably, as stated before, that it will be a revealing of the how storytelling and powers work in that universe. It has a lot of areas to clean up such as these characters being around for hundreds of years even though some of the books were written after. I really like what he is doing with Jack of Fables. I think he is going to keep using Jack to have fun with stories not limited by the overall storyline Fables and to tie up ideas and explain the story-telling aspect.

1.) Bill does not entirely write JoF. It is co-written by Mathew, and they take turns writing arcs.
2.) With Mr. Revise there could be two (or more) Excaliburs. :D
3.) Bill could be running on the idea that in the story there were two Excalibur's.
4.) We have seen weirder stuff in Fables which would later be explained like when :D Blue Boy:D , killed the Emperor in Vol. 6. I am certain Bill W. did not screw up and this will all make sense by the end of the arc.
5.) I am most certain the old man is Merlin.
6.) I wonder if we will see the Lady of the Lake soon.
