Aside from the ones he has created/written, what characters does Alan Moore love/like/respect? To add to that, what creators does he like or respect?

Also, what characters or properties (including mainstrem ones) has he been noted as wanting to work on? Which ones do you think he would like to work on?

Alan likes everything, and respects everyone, even if he doesn't think everything lives up to its fullest potential. He's been known to really like the Simpsons, South Park, the Sopranos, and, in comics, stuff done by the Hernandez Bros, Gaiman, Ware, Clowes, and Miller, even though he thinks Miller is kinda one-dimensional.

As for properties he wants to work on, he's pretty much done. Alan prides himself in being able to make any property workable, but he's pretty much done with the mainstream. He wants to work on stuff on his own.

He has said that he would probably do Miracleman if Gaiman ever got the rights to that character.

But as we know Mcfarlane is doing his best to prevent that, funny as he can't do shit with that character outside reprinting the old books, he can't write himself out of a paperbag.

Alan Moore. It's too bad the Big Two can't give him more leeway so Alan can write the DC and Marvel characters and his vision for them. I think that he fas a genuine love for any comic bok character and can make that character respectable and full of potential.

I'm sure he would be given all of the leeway he wants. The problem is he doesn't want it and doesn't want anything to do with either of the big two

Right, although it's possible he might do work for an affiliated imprint like WildStorm, kind of like the ABC deal.

Unlikely that it would be for anything to do with mainstream superhero comics (as he's tired of people seeing 'comics' as meaning 'superhero comics') as he really has made it clear he's done with them. Moore's next project is his next novel, (based & about Northampton) after that he's stated he might take some time off before doing something else.

You sure you're not thinking of Warren Ellis ? Moore has always been a big super-hero fan and he's never had that whole anti-superhero/franchise thing before, especially since he's never been limited in what he could write.

Has he (Moore) said this recently ?

He announced his retirement from "mainstream" comics something like... three or four years ago?

Yeah, but he also said that he was going to become a warlock...

He's a brilliant and eccentric writer and I'd be willing to bet that he'll come back to mainstream/superhero comics after a vacation from them.

...or he'll become a racecar-driver/astronaut.

He's been describing himself as a magician for some years now.

No, he's had his break from them in the early 90's, came back & decided that he's done with mainstream superheroics after becoming jaded.
