View Full Version : WOW. . "Stardust". . .just WOW
Easily one of the best films I've seen this year, and Michelle Pfiffer (sp?) is just fantastic in this.
Loved the DeNiro bits too, and Cliare Danes, w/ a pretty dang good accent, is also great in this.
laughs, fantastic special effects, and a couple of good, dark humor moments w/ the Fratricidal Princes. . .
go see it!

Just got back from it. Thought it was fantastic. I have no idea why reviewers are blasting it because I didn't see any problems with it. Claire Danes has never looked better. That didn't hurt my opinion :P

I rate Stardust as fun in the same vein as The Princess Bride, just not quite as good (then again, that is?). Still, a very good time at the movies...

like why was una(the mother) with a witch?
and in the very beguining. what was the point? What was the question?
Did i miss something?
Tried to be spoiler free.

just be specific, and hide the question in a spoiler tag like this
because I have no idea what you are trying to ask.
to do the above:
[spoil ] question [/spoil ] (and take out the extra space I left before the second ]

Sadly,i saw the signs the movie would not do well.
I noticed my theater chain did not have the usual theater time cards they get with the movie, and instead had hand printed name sheets for the times. Also,as noted in several media, the marketing of the movie has been horrendous,as paramount(i believe that is the studio) had no CLUE how to market this movie. And they also were very tight-fisted about spending money to market it as well.
And the movie placed fourth, with a mere 9 million take, after Rush Hour 3,The Bourne Ultimatium, and the Simpsons Movie. The movie will not be long for theaters,so i recommend if you have ANY interest(and if you like Neil, you SHOULD see this movie asap),go see it this week while you can.

Oooh, bringing a thread back from the dead!
Just saw it yesterday. I loved this movie so much; I almost cried, so I did. It worked on every level for me - which genuinely caught me by surprise. Never read the book, didn't fancy the trailers, wasn't sure Vaughn could work without English gangsters.
Mark Strong/Septimus has been in two of my favourite movies all year between this and Sunshine. I therefore like him lots now.

It's not out on DVD until December 18. The chances of you finding it in a movie theater are slim to none.

It came out much later in Britain, where I happen to live. :p

Yeah, it only came out on Friday there I think. The showing I went to was packed as well - I think it'll play much better over here than it did in America.

In that case I hope you enjoy the picture. You should rush to see this one, because if this film does well in Britain as it did in America it will only be in your movie theater for a week. Don't get me wrong, it's a good movie but no one went to see it.

I genuinely think it'll do better over here. We seem more open to weird films like this, the advance word from America has been decent and the cast is way more recognisible to us as well. I'm planning to go see it again ASAP, so hopefully it doesn't bomb.
Seriously, it made me giddy. I've been thinking about it all day.

I decided I would go see it after seeing a thread on the Rumbles board about it.

I got the book just to the differences, if the film is as good as the book, I will be a very happy Gladiaria. :D

I'm planning to track that book down now. Or at the very least drop serious hints about what I want for my birthday.
According to the Wikipedia entry - is it lame that I looked it up? - there's a bunch of stuff that got cut out for the movie. But Gaiman wanted it that way, so presumably it doesn't totally gut the story.

I got mine on Amazon, if that helps.
Depends I looked it up on Wiki too. :p And I hope it doesn't.

Cheers! As Wiki has recently told me, there's apparently a new edition. Which means I'll have no trouble finding it. The first issue I need to tackle though is finding someone not me to pay for it. Birthday and Christmas coming up: surely I'll have joy for one of those.

As long as it's not just me! Near as I can tell it only loses some of the more explicit violence and sexing, and presumably some exposition. It's still a long film though, and a packed one at that.

I thought about seeing this, but I was worried it was going to end up like that crappy Dragon movie that came out last Christmas. But I trust your judgement, so is this thing out on DVD yet?

Great fun. Gervais and Pfeiffer strangely seemed off, but everyone else was wonderful.
Loved the actors cameoing as the Princes.

December, I believe.
It's gonna be a holiday gift for me, for sure :)

If you get the chance, see it at the pictures. It's one of those movies which was made for a big screen.

I thought Gervais was funny, even if he was just playing himself again. And I loved Pfeiffer in it - she got right into things from the start. Trying to remember where I'd seen all the princes was annoying though, which isn't the film's fault really. Took me ages to decide if it was actually David Walliams or not.
