hello all,

I haven't been reading any comics for a couple of years now. I was always a big marvel fan and read the occasional superman or batman. Just wondering how things are in the comic world and what would be some good titles to get back into the swing of things?

Well OYL is a good place to start with the Superman and Batman titles. If you have a LCS around close perhaps you can pick up some there. Grant Morrison has been on Batman and I'd suggest picking up his All-Star Superman in TPB . The 1st 6 issues are out in it...

For Batman, I'd say to maybe skip the somewhat silly "Face The Face" arc and just go right on ahead to Paul Dini's run on Detective Comics. The first 6 issues of that are collected in the Batman: Detective trade, or, you can just track down Detective #821-826; whichever you prefer.

I second the Paul Dini Detective issues, that stuff is good.

As for Superman, check out the trade for "Up Up, and Away".

See, I would skip "Up, Up and Away" and go right to Busiek and Pacheco's "Camelot Falls." That there's some good Superman.

Haven't read that yet. Trade out?

EDIT: I see a HC

I honestly have lost interest in most of the Marvel Universe, so I can't help you there.

I've been spending the last year or so slowly getting back into things, and as far as Marvel goes, I think there's a lot of quality work going on.

Highlights right now include:

-The New Avengers
-Punisher War Journal
-Moon Knight
-Captain America
-Wolverine
-World War Hulk
-The Irredeemable Ant Man (sadly, about to be cancelled)

I've also enjoyed Black Panther and Amazing Spider-Man. Thing is, there are all kinds of books I haven't had time to check out. Quality-wise, Marvel is much improved from the mid-'90s, when I gave up on the company.

He died in Captain America #25. Trades of the new series can help you catch up

About Marvel, i suggest:

- Astonishing X-men (currently, the best, imho)
- Young Avengers
- Marvel Team-Up (by kirkman. Got cancelled, sadly)
- Daredevil by Brian Bendis (all)
- Captain America by Brubaker
- Ultimates Vol 1 e 2
- House of M and Civil War (the limited series alone, not the tie-ins)

And - if you have the time:

- Punisher Max

I think there are other fine things at the Ultimate Universe too, but i donīt read it, therefore i canīt say.

Have nice readings!
