This may not be the right place to post this, but, I just found out yesterday that Peter Root who was a comic dealer in Glasgow, sadly passed away a few weeks ago.

I had been buying comics from Pete for over 20 years in his various shops and mart's. I would spend hours in his shop talking about comics, films and football. I hadn't been in for a while, but knew he had been ill, but it was a shock to read this in a magazine.

Being a regular customer if he got a new collection in, he would let me pick out what i wanted and keep it aside for me, now it will be annonymus buying of comics via the internet, i will still the issues i want, but won't be able to talk about them and what's out there that's good and i may not have read.

I don't know how many people on these boards are from Glasgow or knew Pete but i thought it would be nice to say goodbye to someone who loved comics here.

So goodbye Pete and god bless.

Fuck, fucking fuck.

I knew Pete was ill & had been kept updated on his condition by friends but last I heard he was doing ok but had given up his buisness.

I knew Pete since I first started going to the first Glasgow marts in 81, & got to know him better once AKA (one of Glasgow's first comic chops) opened. AKA was a huge part of my teenage years, not only for the various friendships that came from it but also for creators such as Grant Morrison, Mark Millar & Gary Erskine who were all encouraged by what the place was.

I remember Pete as a good bloke who loved comics, Morton, his wife and a few pints of lager shandy. I'll be having a few beers for him later.

My condolences to both of you.
