So LOL hilar.

Jessie Drew tried to rock her gay street cred by being all "I'm all up in San Francisco!!!" but then the self-centered chica couldn't put her finger on the SCREAMING QUEEN in front of her not being into her.

OUTRAGEOUS, indeed. Sing it, sister Sue.

Dazzler would have sniffed this queen out from 8 states away.

Oh, JESSIE.

In all fairness, Jessica was brand new to the modern world at the time. She'd been out of cryogenic freeze less than a year and was more naive than Kim from 24, Mary Marvel, AND Dawn Summers combined. "Basic Social Skills" were not on the Spider-Woman Menu in that point in her life. Hell, the Jessica Drew written by Mark Gruenwald wouldn't have recognized a gay man if he'd been humping Jean Paul Beaubier 8 inches from her!

It wasn't until she moved to San Francisco that Jessica actually had a grasp on the world. By the time she earned her Private Investigator's license, she attained a level of sophistication that wouldn't be found in the early issues.

Aww... c'mon! I love Jessie, but you have to admit it's super hilar.

Where did you get that page from? it seems awfully bright to be from an original comic.

Women of Marvel Vol 2.

Which is truly abysmal compared to Vol 1.

Actually, I chuckle every time I read that issue! Later in life, I can appreciate the funniness of Jessica questioning why "he didn't react to her". I couldn't suppress the smile when I re-read that very scene earlier in the week (the B & W reprint volume).

Silly, I am a gay man! I made that statement with full awareness of Pun Factor. ;)

DDM, is that you?

That's hilarious, Ben. Jessica needs a fag. She better get one in her solo book.

How did Marvel decide which issues went into the Women of Marvle trades? Did they just flip a coin?

I think so. For Rogue, I believe her first appearance in Avengers Annual #10 is better than the chosen issue of Uncanny X-Men #218.
