Champagne's writing? He did some awesome stuff on Green Lantern Corps, but this? I'm sure it's gonna' be huge, but it doesn't sound very interesting to me. It's like "Rumbles, the Comic."

I'm glad they are including the fans in the voting process, and as much I love the multiverse and would love to see characters like Green Lantern of Earth-5.

It basically does sound alot like "Rumble's The Comic" (which I pretty much detest anything of that sort), and it doesn't sound that interesting of a story that needs to be told.

Oh wow, this is actually a real title?

I kinda assumed it was a hoax back when I first heard of it.

Wow, this is the most bottom-of-the-barrel idea for a mini-series I have ever heard. It's something that a fanboy on too much caffeine would make up in his spare time. It's a fan-fic. A message board thread. It's....

GENIUS!

This is the worst idea I have ever heard. Sounds like someone's confusing video games with comics here. Hideous.

Even Image at its nadir wouldn't have been so... so... Words fail me.

Still, think of the marquee match-up:

Prez vs. Vertigo Prez!

that be cool, what I want to see is all star superman vs red son superman

and dk returns batman vs all star batman

I'm all for superhero slugfests, but wouldn't mixing up the match-ups be more interesting? Why not "Kingdom Come" Superman vs. the main DCU's Black Adam, "Red Son" Superman vs. "In Darkest Knight" Batman, "Red Rain" Batman vs. the CSA's Johnny Quick, and so on and so forth?

Superman vs. Superman vs. Superman, Batman vs. Batman vs. Batman, etc. just sounds so . . .

A Green Lantern from Earth-5 (Earth-S), eh?

I wonder if they are following up on ALL-STAR SQUADRON No. 52, where Alan Scott finds a counterpart of the Starheart meteorite in the China of Earth-S -- and uses power from the object.

If so, the native Green Lantern who later emerges on Earth-5 might have a weakness to wood like Alan did (and not to the color yellow). I hope this new Lantern in his or her secret identity is a familiar character from the pre-Crisis history of Earth-S.

It would be funny if it turns out to be Uncle Dudley, since as a Green Lantern he would have real super powers for the first time.

Tawky Tawny would visually be a pretty cool choice for this Green Lantern, and the feller already likes the color green. He'd be a flying tiger of a different stripe, alright!

Or if it's a more serious character, maybe it could be a thinly-disguised Captain Midnight, who crashed in the vicinity of the meteorite one night while trying to refuel in China after a wartime raid on Japan.

I hate this "fans vote" crud. I wish the writers would just do their jobs and pick the characters based on who are best suited to the story instead of who the fans want to lead just because of some story ten years ago.

Me too. Remember 'DC Versus Marvel' ? You know, the story in which Storm fried Wonder Woman with a lightning bolt and Wolverine gutted Lobo off-panel... 'fans vote' tends to not turn out so well.

Yeah DC Versus Marvel turned out to be the dissapointment of the century. I did enjoy the Amalgam line of comics that came from it though, even though some of the mash-ups made absolutely no sense.

Fan vote to me almost kills this.

The only real reason I see for getting this would be either introduction of interesting characters from the multiverse or clarifying of how powerful certain variants of characters are. And the fan vote pretty much kills the second one.

Yeah, I remember Storm pwned WW. Sounds right.

There are a lot of ways I think Storm could have been written to believably take down WW. Surviving being KICKED TO THE HEAD followed by a direct strike lightning bolt isn't one of them.

Although, given that you have like 1-2 pages to take care of Wolverine vs. Lobo--I can see how that would be a task.
