I've had a few responses for the Nova Novella I;m endevouring to do BUT as I trall through several dozen forums over the net there's a hell of a difference of opinion as to what Nova fans actaully want to see in the on-going proper.

Some prerfer a New Nova Corps.
Some prefer Rich to remain the sole custodian of the Nova Corps and remain a cosmic Lone Ranger dispensing justice across the galaxy, or the multiverse for that matter...
Some prefer Rich and Ko to be a potential partnership.
Some want Rich to dump Gamora and have Ko as his new beau (with one lost son as a bonus!)
Some want Ko Dead.
Some want Peter and Rich to be an item (made that one up myself!! Kidding!!)
Some would like Rich to somehow incorporate the T-O virus to help control his powers better without relying on the Worldmind all the time.
Some would like Rich to go back to Earth and do a proper job on Tony Stark.

And added to all that who exactly after the Phalanx are done an' dusted would you like to see Nova take on next? Who would you make Nova's Number 1 enemy?

So as you can see its a pretty mixed bag to follow so what would you do? What would you like to see happen?

I think it decreases the character's uniqueness by having a whole crew of them. Now if it was a Guardians of the Galaxy type team book I'd be cool with it. I just think there should only be one Nova.

As for villains I wouldn't mind seeing some villains that hated Xandar and want all that is left of its existence wiped off the map. I personally can't recall Xandar having any specific villains against them mentioned before so I think it leaves room to create them. Also it would be great to see the Badoon in action. In the current day marvel universe they have yet to be used. Ko I think would be good in a supporting character type capacity, but not a love interest.

Thanks for the input mate! As far as I know apart from the Skrulls and the Lumphoids and to a lesser degree the Shi'ar I don't recall any other Xandarian enemies. Come to think of it. Have there been any known Xandarian villians par-se? Okay Garthan Saal is a possible but due to the fact he went insane because he had all the Nova Force inside him..a fate that may befall Rich one day...but considering what little we actually know of Xandarian culture before their world got blasted by Zorr, Nebula and finally the Wave, its an area still clouded in mystery. Likewise with all those billions of mental engrams locked inside the Worldmind, surely not every single one of them was good and virtuous. Did Xandarian culture have its own low-lifes? Thieves. Serial Killers. Dishonest Politicians? And if so were their brain-waves also stored inside the Worldmind? Hmmm.

By the way just to make this a bit more interesting, just don't consider it for my little project. Also think about the on-going itself. After all we want our money's worth from DNA for a good few years!

Keep Nova by himself; he works better that way. As for villains, make some up. Planetary Weapon: Earthfall was cool in Issue #1, I'm sure there are some other things that can be created like that, to showcase Nova's new power level.

By the way, forgot. The Poll closes on the 30th August. (I'm away on holiday after that as I plan to start doing this project proper after I come back, but as I have done a bit of pre-liminary typing I'll make note of every good suggestion as they come in. Thanks Dr Who and B so far!

Oddly enough I was thinking about Noh-Var the other day. Is his name a play on words or what. Think he's in Illuminati 4 so i'll pick that issue up. Midnight Sun. The last I heard he was still with the Inhumans on the Moon after the Silver Surfer series. Always loved his kung-fu moves!

The badoon. Sadly missed in Annihilation despite being mentioned one or two times. Deserve a plot but I'd have to do a good bit of research on them. I did read the Defenders which If I recall was pencilled by Keith Giffen who drew the Presense. Again nother to research but keep it in mind.

For the record the race I'd like Rich to tackle is the Brood. Okay another X-men tie-in but I have a love for Giger-esque aliens. That and Rich to have another go at Gladiator...

Approximately ninety-four thousand, five hundred kilometers above the surface of the moon's dark side, a ripple warped the stellar vistas as the fabric of space-time pealed back. The stargate's eye was less than five hundred meters across, surrounded by a blossom of electric blue plasma measuring two kilometers wide. From the event horizon emerged a solitary figure riding a stream of super charged electrons which glowed brilliant white where they emerged from three roundels built into his armor. As the stream bent back into the now slowly colapsing vortex, it changed hue from white to vivid orange slowly shifting to blood red. When Nova was just over fifty kilometers distant from the event horizon, the vortex finally colapsed in on itself; the "flower petals" pushing the brane that seperated our reality from Phased Space back upon itself sealing the rupture with deathly silence.
At first he could not see his homeworld; blocked out of view by seventy-three thousand tons of lunar landscape, its ancient grey surface pitted and marred by countless craters caused by an endless hail of micrometeorites and the occasional larger pieces of cosmic debris that periodically entered the Solar System from the Oort Cloud.
He flew down towards the satellite's surface, his speed unhindered due to the lack of atmosphere surrounding the lone Moon. He headed towards the terminator endevouring to keep one thousand meters above the craters passing very close to the Blue Area where Attilian lay amid the ruins of a lost civilization.
From the corner of his right eye Nova glimpsed the Watcher's citadel. He could sence vast alien thoughts coming from within the citadel. If Uatu was aware of his presence and his purpose the Watcher choose not to respond; even so, Nova knew that the Watcher rarely ignored any significant event. That was a Watcher's destiny as well as their eternal curse. Forever to Observe. Never to interfere though he knew from memories that the Worldmind had once shared with him that the Watcher's occasionally "bent the rules". Why they had once saved the Xandarian culture from extinction was still an eternal mystery. Not that it mattered. Fate in the end eventually claimed the existance of the once proud race and by now little was left of Xandar's remains as most of the debris had fallen into Tranta's primary star. All that was left was a twelve billion year old gestalt neural-matrix and one lone Centurion, Terran born by birth, bearing the legacy inside him.
Nova noted on his helmet's internal visor array that two hundred kilometeres due west from his current position was Mare Tranquillitatis where Neil Armstrong made his famous one step for mankind. That day, Earth had made its first step into the unknown to become a citizen of the Universe Entire, just as he had done six years ago when he had received his powers from Rhoman Dey.
Ahead, he glimpsed the first sight of Earth's crescent shape against a backdrop of ebon blackness. It's blue and white surface swirling with white clouds illuminated by the distant rays of Sol but the sight stirred no emotion inside him. Its was the assigned objective. Nothing more. Nova felt a squirt of uploaded neural activy flood his fore-brain as he accessed the kinematic interface, establishing a rapport with the Xandarian Consensus within him.
Open a sub-etheric link Worldmind, Omega Band Scramble.
Complying.
I have the target on long-range scan. I'm detecting 23 energy signatures in geo-synchorous orbit forming a lattic network just beyond La Grange Point 2. Analysing. On the visor array, which accessed data via Nova's neural interface; the top-left hand side of the display sub-divided into several smaller windows; each showed a three-dimensional rotating composite of a orbiting satellite; cylindrical, twenty meters long with four large solar powered collectors at forty-five degree inclination relative to Sol. Each had a distinctive logo enblazened on one side: the SHIELD crest. The right-hand side of the display remained one-single window showing the exact positions of every satellite in relation to the planetary body that they protected.
They have a mix of low-yield nuclear armaments and more exotic particle based weaponary. Stark has obviously been busy while I've been away.
Will they be a problem lover?
No. Not at all. I'll run interference as planned. As soon as I've eliminated the primary threats I'll send a homing beacon to call in the Reserves. I'm resuming silent running. I'll re-establish contact when able.
Now make sure you play nice. Don't get them too upset.
I won't. Glory be the Phalanx.
Worldmind. Pin-point weakness in the first Satellite and give me full power, both hands.
Complying
Nova left behind the lunar surface at five-hundred gees and headed across the gap between the Moon towards the verdant planet ahead. As he approached within one hundred and twenty thousand kilometers of Earth's upper athmosphere, Nova detected several rapid energy spikes coming from the lattice. They had detected his presence. Stark was clever; he'd obviously taken note of his augmented power signature since his last visit and added it to the catalogue. Stark must have hoped that Richard Rider was still a friendly but he must have certain doubts. Stark did not like unknown variables. His life was governed by complexities of mathematical formulue and futurist ideology. Everything had to have a purpose. If if didn't comply to Stark's perception, then potentially it was a threat. Stark would be a perfect Select but Nova did not want to take any risk. Perhaps, for the best, Stark would have to be eliminated.
Within eighty thousand kilometers of the Lattice, Nova released several high-density gravmetric pulses which stuck the lead Satelite, knocking it out of orbit. It tumbled towards Earth's life-sustaining envelope and friction did the rest. Seconds later it exploded soundlessly; the blast flickering across Nova's retinas. Below, Nova imagined the anguish and puzzlement creasing the chissed features of the SHIELD Director high atop his ivory tower. Stark, at first, would not comprehend why the former New Warrior who a few months earlier had returned to a world forever changed, was now atttacking the lattice with unjustified provocation. The lattice had been constructed as a means to protect the Planet from potential alien threats after Rider had told him about the Annihilation War. Stark had other reasons to build the Lattice but they had been classified. Not that it mattered.
Nova was now within twenty thousand kilometers of Earth's upper atmoshere. The rest of the Lattice had now powered up and as he closed in, the nearest twelve satellites began a multiple assult. Energy detonations errupted in front of Nova's trajectory endevouring to slow his approach. Nova body was surrounded by a plasma shield, an incadescent golden oval of light that protected him from the fury but still allowed him to project concentrated gravametric streams against the Latice. The Worldmind had calculated the precise spot to create a cascade effect. As the energy blast hit the second nearest satellite, it exploded, sending a energy surge through its sub-systems which affected its immediate neighbour. Dominoe Effect. Multiple detenations illuminated the heavens as the Lattice ceased to exist.
Within moments, Nova passed through the shattered Lattice entering Earth's athmosphere. He passed through the Nitrogen/Oxygen rich athmosphere like a blazing comet; a harbinger of inpending doom. He could see the outline of the North American continent: the Eastern seaboard illuminated with a sea of sparkling lights as the whole land-mass was still in shadow. He noted the chronometer: It read 11.30 P.M. EST/ 23.50 PGT relative.
Down through whispy grey clouds Nova approached the expanse of the New York conurbation. Red lights lit up on his visor display accompanied by a surge of neural data as proximaty sensors detected multiple heat-signatures closing rapidly. One of them was very familiar and not at all unexpected.
"Stand Down! Desist! I repeat STAND DOWN!"
It was Stark. Behind him Nova could see several battalions of SHIELD rapid-deployment teams. Many were wearing VTOL packs equipped with armor piercing weaponary. Several helicopters approached from the West and from the East the Worldmind detected two distinct meta-human trace signatures out of a habited area designated Stamford. More were on the way.
"Nova. Richard.", Stark said with less force but still with a tinge of threat, Nova's helmet reflected on the gold/ red stylized face of Stark's face-plate. Stark eyes couldn't make out Richard's eyes; they were hidden behind white-coated lenses below the 8 pointed red-hued star but he noted his mouth. It was flat. No hint of a smile. Not even anger. No hint of any emotion.
"What the hell are you doing! I don't know what you'..."
Stark's voice trailed off. In the two-point-three-seconds that the SHIELD director had began to speak, Nova had raised his left hand. He clenched his fist tightly and in one swift movement before Stark could find a means to defend himself had blasted Iron-Man's armor at point blank range; breaching its poly-carbide composite alloy. As Stark's unconsciouness form hurtled down towards the Atlantic, flames illuminating his passing. The SHIELD response was immediate. They opened fire: bullets, short-ranged missiles, a hail of destruction but the Plasma Shield protected Nova's body from any discernable harm.

Ko can stay around. But I Do Not want the corps back. Rich should form a
new Guardians of the Galaxy group, members:

Nova Prime(Rich)
Nova Centurion(Ko)
Quasar(Phylla with no Moondragon,hate her)
Starlord(Peter Quill)
Ronan(tired of ruling the Kree)
Firelord
Firestar(go back to Earth and recruit her out of retirement)

Build a new Prime Ship. Base of operations, transport, maybe new home
for the Worldmind, it's cloaked, mobile, good security. Rich would just
have gain control of the Nova Force w\o the WM's help.Or just keep the
WM in him, which I perfer.

As per the above. Thanks to you that have took part; there' still time as this poll won't close till the end of August. From the results here and at a similiar poll at Nova Prime Page it seems that opinion is very much tied between having Rich either remain a solo act or forming a new Corps.
If Rich, in my tales, remains a solo act; I do have a idea in mind to do my stories in a very appropriate gap between the end of Annihilation 6 and Nova 1, after all there over 90,000 8 x 8 calls he hasn't responded to!
Likewise if I went along the Nova Corps line; well it doesn't have to be set necessarily in the 616; there is a good Nova pice of fiction at NovaPrime called I reached for the Stars which introduced the Ultimate Universe version of Rich. That Rich,19 years old, was drafted into the Corps who are in the middle of a intergalactic war with an alien race called the Askunani. Sadly the author never carried on the tale but it had some very interesting bits when I read it. I did draft a sort of Annihilation take called Incursion which would have been set in that Universe; there Rich leads a strikeforce called the Dark-Stars comprising of Samaya, Pyo, Garthan Saal, and I forgot who else. The enemy was Annihilius and his servants, and I kid you not were the Phalanx! I have the draft somewhere on my drive; maybe I'll upload it one day. So please if you haven't voted, please help a poor Nova fan out and if you're good you'll get some more artwork out of me!!

No prob FirstNova! As is I have several plot-ideas myself; it all depends on which way to go. Solo. Corps. Mix of the Two. Alternative Universe. Set a story maybe in Nova's glory days of the past; you know re-vist the old 70's style 17 year old Rich Rider. Come to think of one story I have plotted features both the 17 and 25 year versions meeting each other. And 40YONFan would love a Nova/Aliens crossover!

I'm off on holiday in the next week so before I go I'd like to sorta know where the best way to go with my Nova serial as I want to get cracking when I return..I'm even tempted to illustrate the thing as an on-line comic or spot illustrations. From the poll its a tie between Rich staying solo or forming the Corps so depenent on which of these 2 options is the best depends on which way I go though for the record I'm sorta keen on a solo Rich scenario myself as its easier to write though I will abide by the final result!

However further to that: here's a few possible story ideas to mull over so let me have your thoughts on them:

1) Time Travel opus in which current Rich travels back to the days of the Xandar Skrull war to solve the mystery of Epyrus 7 and ends up having to tutor his younger self to be a better hero..oh before that
17 year old Rich..sorta well kicks the bucket causing a time embalism. This arc idea will explore my take on Xandarian culture during the war period.

2) Solo epics which delve further into the Nova as a cosmic beat cop set well after Conquest (or in-between Annihilation 6 and Nova 1) Arcs include finding the whereabouts of Drax, Brood, Drug Runners and the return of the Shadow Consortiumn. Also a aspect of Xandarian history that always picqued my curiosity. If Xandar did
have colony worlds; where are they? And another thing: If the Xandarian Worldmind contains all the elite brains/memory engrams in its gestalt mind.where are all the negatives? After all Xandar could not be all perfect and white; is there as dark Worldmind out there in the cosmic depths? And add to this; in an alternatve universe Could Xandar have gone the other way along the lines as Conquerors and what if they decided to invade our Universe?; after all when the Crunch got ripped by Annihilus; maybe they weren't the only ones to emerge from the rip; they're a plenty more multiverses out there...

3) Ultimate Nova: Carry on the story from the fan-fic at Nova Prime Page as 19 year old Richard Rider having defeated the Ankari now has to face the minions of Ultimate Annihilus

4) Nova/Ko: Well two strong-headed Novas are better than one. And besides if/when Rich is cured of the T-O virus (or not..) Perhaps he'll have to decide and help Ko find her son..likewise anyone for Rich/Starlord..etc.

5) Nova Corps: Just how will Rich go about setting them up? Who would be in the ranks? Where would they be based? And what menance would test their mettle? Sinestro Corps equalivient?

6) Your own ideas. Please type them in or PM me. More the merrier..

Thanks to anyone who helps. Darren

Some time ago I started having ideas of doing a bit of Nova fan-fiction to breal up my day job/s and the odd bit of artwork I do here an' there. Anyway to get the whole thing going, myself and a few other Nova fans have been swaping ideas over the net but it's been a bit time-consuming when you're e.mailing back an' forth. So to make things a bit easier I've created a Yahoo Group called Nova The New Adventures as as meeting place to trade ideas, etc.

To join (membership acquires approval), follow the link below.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NTNA/

..and while you're at it go and join Nova Prime too at...

..and make Nova64 a very happy man!
