I saw the MAGDALENA statue. It looks gorgeous. SO what is her comic book about?

I plan to pick up the MAGDALENA/Daredevil x-over in early 08.

The Magdalena is a line of warrior nuns, descended from the union of Mary Magdalene and Jesus Christ himself, trained by the Vatican to fight supernatural threats. They wield the Spear of Destiny, and have the power to make you relive all your sins at once.

(Before you ask, this story was written before the Da Vinci Code).

Patience Price is the latest Magdalena. She has left the Vatican Order, to fight evil on her own terms.

Ok, she sort of reminds me of Evangelina (the sexy killer vigilante nun) from the 1980s.

There was a four-part miniseries in 2003, I think - I'm going from memory, but I believe it was about Patience becoming the Magdalena, and I think it ended with her telling the Vatican Order to shove it, as Arvandor mentioned. As I recall, it was basically four issues of the Watchers Council from Buffy, and latex outfits.

I've got a notion she showed up in Witchblade being unhelpful sometime not too long ago - before #100, but not too far back, it may have been in the Witch Hunt storyline around the #80s.

Magdalena is a pretty good character IMO. I like her. The first mini-series from 2000 wasn't all that good IIRC, but the one from 2003, where she tells the Vatican Order to shove it as Kitty so delicately put it, was good. So was the Monster War mini-series from 2005. Ron Marz use of her in Witchblade has been a real joy to read.

She's popped up a number of times since 100. There was an arc early in Sara's pregnancy where she needed Sara's help. Sara no longer had the Witchblade, but she helped anyway. There's more to Sara than a sentient bracelet, after all. Then issue 110 of Witchblade focused solely on her, and of course, she's in the First Born mini series. That pretty much covers her recent appearances, but she popped up a number of times before. She was in an arc of Tomb Raider, Darkness, the Monster War crossover...she gets around for a nun.

Expect more soon.

I like her quite a bit. I'd hoped she'd get her own on going series, but it doesn't seem like that's gonna happen.

Like most here, I REALLY Loved it when she told the Vatican to shove it and chose to start doing things her way.

I love Mags, I wish she has an on-going series, but there are a few Top Cow ladies who I wish had their own series. :D
I was totally enthralled all through the story, and would love to read more. Pretty please Top Cow?

I have liked the character since the first miniseries-no one can draw her like Benitez.I had always hoped that she would someday get a chance at a monthly series but this has yet to happen.Maybe with the upcoming crossover with Marvel's Daredevil this will bring enough interest to Magdalena to garner a monthly book.

I saw her for the first time in years in First Born mini.

She was alright in it. Didnt help much in the battle vs Angelus.

Only other time i have seen her is in Witchblade. Years ago when i read Witchblade in its 30+ issues.
