So what’s next for NW?

League membership would be an awesome tradeoff. And a new writer on his book. I love Wolfman, but unless he throws something crazy Dick's way, that book's gonna' remain pretty mediocre. Which is a whole lot more than we were getting from Bruce Jones' run, at least, but still.

I've been enjoying Marv's stuff (after the first arc). I think we could do a lot worse (well, actually, we've had a lot worse--for quite a while).

Maybe I just hate the crap out of the last two (the Bride and Groom one bored me to tears and Metal Eddie's arc can't end soon enough). But yes, it's a far cry from where this book was about a year ago.

Ha! Those are the two arcs I've been enjoying. To each their own!

The rumor is that Pete Tomasi is going to take over. I've never read anything of his, but I'm reluctant to trade a "sure thing" in Wolfman for an unknown.

This may well be the first time you and I have ever been in agreement, Jack. I was waiting with baited breath for Wolfman to take over Nightwing. Having been a Titans fan back during the pre-crisis run, I felt (and feel) that Wolfman understands Dick better than anyone else. But these plot-lines have sucked total ass. I guess Wolfman needed Perez to keep things balanced back in the day. Maybe he needs a co-plotter again.

I Didn't much care for the Bride and Groom arc, but loving the current story.

I'd love for Marv to stick around a bit longer. Really digging the current arc. This isn't his last one, is it?

BRING BACK DIXON!!!!!

Forget about Dixon, give me Geof Johns!!!

Well, I liked his first arc. I liked the supporting cast and Dick's relationship with the family of the guy who stole the Raptor armor. But things are always changing with him, nobody sticks around for long or gets enough attention, and the last two conflicts (The Bride and Groom and now Metal Eddie) have bored the crap out of me. Dick needs a Blockbuster again. And a developed supporting cast. I mean, hell, I'm more interested in Robin's girlfriend Zoë and his punkass "sidekick" Killa 'Nilla than Dick's supporting cast.

I can't see Johns writing Nightwing

Dick definitely needs a supporting cast. One of the things that bugged me about Wolfman's initial arc was that the people who seemed to have that potential were all killed off. Since then, however, Dick's gotten this gym job and a couple of friends there, which I'm okay with; it seems to have potential.

Good question. Last I heard, Marv was only promised a total of twelve issues, which would be up with 136, next month. However, he's still credited with 137, out in October, and from the sounds of it, it doesn't sound like this arc is over, even then. Though I haven't heard anything official verifying that he is indeed leaving, if he is, it's likely after this arc.

As I mentioned earlier, Peter Tomasi has been rumored by LITG to be the next writer. Pete was the editor of Nightwing during most of Wolfman's run, so it's possible that he made a deal with the incoming editor. I've never read anything he's written, so this is a big unknown factor for me.

BRING BACK DIXON!!!!!

Not entirely impossible. Chuck has been hinting about a big announcement that's forthcoming to the effect that he's returning to a book he's written in the past. It could be Nightwing; it could also be Robin (which is supposed to be getting a new writer, too). I'm sure it could be something else as well, but I really hope it's one of the above.

If it's Nightwing, maybe Scott McDaniel will be returning with him. As far as I know, Scott is still DC-exclusive, and I'm not aware that he's doing anything else right now, since Green Arrow ended. If we saw a return of both Dixon and McDaniel to this book, to me, that would be very cool.

This bugged me too. If Wolfman were intending to stay on Nightwing for years to come, this loss could have had lasting emotional reprecussions, but it will be easily forgotten by the next creative team. These people will have become more forgettable faces in the backdrop of Dick's life.

Since then, however, Dick's gotten this gym job and a couple of friends there, which I'm okay with; it seems to have potential.

I dropped out with the first issue of the new story arc. But, last I saw, none of these people seemed to have any strong characterization nor memorable traits. They'll be just as easily discarded as Dick's previous supporting casts.

I liked Chuck's run and all, but we already knew what he's capable of with this character. Also his Nightwing never really matched the intellect of Marv's Titans one. Dick always seemed to be getting hit in the back of the head or bitching about Daddy issues. Not to say it was a horrible run, I loved it for the most part, I'd just like to see someone new on the title if Marv's leaving. I think Geoff Johns, Marc Andreyko, or Fabian Nicieza would be a great choice for the title.

As for the artist, I'd like to see this Jon Bosco for a bit longer.

He joins King Frog, which Roy has gotten back together and he and Red Arrow buy a truck, travel this great land, playing rock & roll, searching for America and maybe.... just maybe...... finding love along the way.

I'd read it.

Okay, but only if they bring along Ace the Bat-Hound.

Actually, you know what? The more I think about it, the more Hard Travelling Heroes: The Next Generation could be a good idea. It makes sense that Roy would take Dick along with him too.... they could play off each other pretty well, too. Hell, perhaps Donna could come along. Hard Travelling Heroes: Titans. DO IT!

Parenthood. Well, not really, but that would be awesome, having a kid with Starfire. :o

I could see that.
Roy would be trying to get Dick to relax for once.

If it's not Chuck Dixon then I wouldn't mind seeing Marc Andreyko take over the book. The Nightwing Annual that he wrote a couple of months ago was excellent.

For the most part, I've been enjoying the last two arcs. The fill-in (is Jamal Igle off the book permanently) art really hurt the most recent issue.

Yeah, I miss Jamal too. (He used to post here, btw.) IIRC, I believe I read a Wolfman interview recently that said Jamal took time off to get married. Marv seemed unsure about his status with the book as well.

I wasn't happy to see one of the announced Countdown specials being solicited with Jamal's name attached to it while John Bosco was solicited as the artist of Nightwing. I was just getting ready to add the book back to my pull list, but if Jamal is off then I may have to pick this up as needed.
