The Runaways need some Lovin, so I thought I'd make a thread dedicated to Marvels Dysfunctional Homeless Super Teens! Go Runaways! Go!

Yeah, I miss him too, but i think that Whedon/Ryan are doing an AMAZING job on this title. I'm sad that they aren't on the book for 12 issues together.
The Runaways are rocking like its........ ummm....... 1907....... :)

Man, Alphona drew the bestest EVERYTHING EVER.
I can totally see my bride rocking that wedding dress. HOT.
Also, the kids had different outfits! Like normal people do! That was one of my favorite things, seeing what hat Molly had on or wtf Nico had sewn together. Miss him.

whoever decided to have a male skrull become a female to engage in a lesbian relationship is really living out a male fantasy as opposed to being true to the characters
i say this sight unseen

WHile I do love the Runaways I think this stuff belongs in the general Marvel Universe since they are not technically part of the XMen, even though Molly is a mutant

I see what u mean, but i still think it has been pretty interesting.
Who knows if they are gonna stay together or not?
I think Karolina and Julie power are LIKE SO going to meet up again when they get back to L.A.................
will be very interesting to see how Xavin reacts to that. :)

I'm not enjoying Whedon's run. Is there something wrong with me? :(
Or Whedon?

Not enjoying Whedon's comic work seems, from my experience, to be a good impulse

Me neither. I'm completely disappointed and not happy. It's not because I'm comparing him to BKV (not intentionally, anyway) but because I really don't find the story appealing at all.
It's cool, Chevy. I can't wait for Terry Moore!

The end part of BKV's run was a bit of a bummer to me, I LOVED Alphonas art when he came back, but that Arc right before "Dead means Dead?" was so bad.
The Evil Grandpa Starbucks From Hell, was really, really bad...............
Whedon has been a breath of fresh air in my opinion, WHEDON HAS ACTUALLY HAD OLD LACE DO SOMETHING! & I'm liking the Yorkes appearance!
Are you looking forward to the new writer?
He seems enthusiastic, and a big Runaways fan so thats always good!
(Haven't read his other stuff.....)

Haha. I kept on hearing positive responses to Whedon's run and nothing bad.
For me, the dialogue is buffy-esque and a bit confusing. I had to read pages over and over for the latest issue to understand it. But atleast Ryan is doing good.

If you don't count X-Men and Fray and Buffy, perhaps.

then they'd truly be heroes

How can you not be enjoying Whedon's work hes the best thing to ever happen to this book it's ashamed hes leaving though :(

I understand not liking his work. He spends a lot of time on characterization and less time on action. I however am ok with this. I like his run on Runaways but I don't love it. However, I agree with the "Yay, Old Lace finally did something!" comment. I love her and she's never ever used.
I too, miss Alphona. I loved the way he made everyone's (but mostly Karolina's) powers appear. And I loved his Molly so infinitely.:)

We usually have a diferent taste for comics, but sometimes you really shock me!
Runaways is LOVE! And that includes Vaughan's second year for sure!
I love each one of the kids, but I agree that the first season was the best. It was just perfect, and I'd gladly marry it and have kids with it.
And Alphona is easily one of my three favorite comic books artists ever.

Are we reading the same book? Its been non-stop action and character interaction since he took over. Fighting Ninjas, Fighting Punisher, Big Angels w/ Metal Wings, Saving kids from burning buildings. Getting in over their heads........
The book seems so much more charged now, Nico is really stepping up as leader, and it looks like we might be getting a new addition to the team?
I'm so sad Whedon and Ryan are Leaving!

...I said his "work." Not specific to Runaways. I think there's been action, I just don't think it's non-stop. And they've been in over their heads since the beginning.;)
Who's the new addition?

wonder how long this will last here before being transported to the MU.
anyways,
IMO whedon's best stuff will not be found in the pages of runaways. it just hasn't really clicked for me. DO read his buffy season 8 though. that is awsome.
and ryan looks good, but......
something about this story is a little zzzzzzzzzzzz..
sorry
Whedon's run isn't as good as Vaughan's IMO, but it's still not bad.
I just can't wait till they go back to LA.
Do you guys think any of the new characters introduced last issue will join the Runaways ?

I think the Xavin/Karolina relationship is interesting because it's obviously doomed . Try as he might Xavin is a man impersonating a woman sometimes , and I hope Karolina comes to realise that HE is not what she wants .The groundwork is being laid in Losers to reveal Julie Power as a lesbian , so maybe they'll hook up down the road.
I'm thinking of buying all the HCs and such, just cos I ain read any Runaways in way too long.

No, cause while I enjoy Whedon run I know it is noticably different than previous story arc. I can't blame Whedon he is working under a lot of restraint. I think he didn't want Runaway caught up in the intiative, but with The Order and the Training camps made keeping the team in LA difficult.
The dynamics of the team were somethings that were different. Xavin was a bit more standoffish and seems to be in compition with Chase and Victor. Molly is the same, but her dialogue was mostly in relation to herself. It almost seemed like few people responded to her. Molly had a way of getting the group attention in tight spots.
So Whedon did some things different and that may affect readers opinion.
