View Full Version : What would you think of Diana becoming the next Batwoman
I just picked up a copy of JLA #90 the other day, the issue where they explore Bruce and Diana's love life and the possiblities that could come out of it, one such Idea was Diana traveling down the dark path and becoming the next Batwoman...with Costume to boot, I was wondering what Batman fans would think to that Idea.
Me, I think, hey it couldn't be worse then making the orginal Batwoman a lesbian in some lame attempt to boost sales on a obscure character from the batman universe.

No, it could be a lot worse, because instead of ruining a new, potentially good character by overhyping something that shouldn't be her defining characteristic, you'd be ruining a long-standing feminist figure by making her wear a male superhero's brand. Decent enough idea for an Elseworlds, but Diana is Wonder Woman because it's her birthright and she earned it, not because she has superpowers and needed to decide on a costume and name.

A slightly better idea than gargling toxic waste. But not by much. May as well make Bruce 'Wonder Boy'.

i'd like it for a week, then everyone else would rally against it.
they really want wonderwoman to be on level with batman and superman, so moving her to a different section of DC where she's second fiddle to a semi-related character might work towards that.

Today weŽre gonna make an exercise in empathy.
You are going to try to put yourself in the shoes of an average Batfan and imagine what heŽd feel like if Bruce started wearing a bustier with an eagle motif, bracelets, a tiara, tall red boots and star-spangled shorts.
Now - and this is the hard part- try to transplant those feelings to a WW fan and imagine how he/sheŽd react if she were the one to do the switch..

The idea is really starting to grow on me
They only need to replace the eagle symbol in his bustier with a bat and he´s ready to rock Gotham!

Yeah, I say OFF with the white bodysuit, he needs to show more skin.

I wouldn't mind seeing a relationship explored somewhat in the comics, but I fail to see why it has to be accompanied by a costume change. I could see Diana and Bruce dating for a little while, but both of them are far too proud to change their identities- Wonder Woman is Diana's heritage, and Batman is such a large part of Bruce's psyche that he's basically wiped out the original identity.

While I'd love to see Wonder Woman and Batman together, I don't think either should EVER encompass any part of the other's costume or name.
No Wonder Batwoman no 'The Wonderous Batman!' no change of costume no change of style. The reason I like the idea of them is a couple is for their difference in what they stand for and how they think and operate. They're such opposites in so many ways, and so similar in others.
However... That costume of hers in that comic was pretty bad ass I will admit. Wouldn't mind seeing that look redone in a more greek outfit to be used in her actual continuity as armor or something. Ditch the Bat-emblem and stuff first though, that just didn't click at all.

What would Wonder woman gain from it?
If you want a darker costume, the Donna Troy, looking one on the cover of World War 3 will do me. That was an amazing costume. I'd like to see that one for a while, before reverting back.
And let's give Batwoman a chance to prove her viability. She's hardly seen the moon of night.

Batfans spend half their time thinking how GREAT it would be for Batman to add Wonder Woman to his trophy collection but what about Wonder Woman herself?
What would a citizen of the WORLD dedicated to save mankind as a whole gain by moving to Gotham (because Batman sure as hell would not move to Themyscira) and fighting petty criminals?
What does he has to offer her?
Social status? She was once the GODDESS of Truth!
Money? She´s a princess!
Travels to fascinating places? She can FLY there by herself!
Diner in fancy restaurants? You honestly think she cares about that?
The Gotham City underbelly?
Maybe the affections of a man-child with fascist tendencies and problems exteriorizing emotions who sees metahumans (i.e. her) as enemies?

I read that issue but that Batman and Batwoman wasn't Diana at alll it was Bruce's and Diana's Daugther and Son...

Ugh. Isn't it bad enough that they already dumped the new Batgirl they were developing for a new Batwoman? Please, DC is already ADHD enough. We don't need them changing character again.
Never mind the idea is a total insult to Wonder Woman. Why would you dare change her name? She's one of the big three! Not that she can get much worse than the mess DC has her in now. I'm amazing at how DC totally screwed over her character.
