Is countdown worth it? Is it tied to 52?

Ok please dont spoil anything for me here.

I finally got to a point where I could start reading 52 and Im about issue 8 into it, I like it. So I dont know whats going to happen.

My questions are these.

Is count down tied into 52? Or a different story?

And is it worth getting? I am curious but if the story and writing sucks then Ill save my money.

No, Countdown is not tied into 52. Countdown is rather tied to everything else currently happening in the DC universe, while 52 was the missing year before OYL.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend it. But it's a good way to know what's going on if you're not getting anything else, I guess.

Ok I wasnt sure if it was tied to 52 or if it was the prelude to whats going to happen in DC universe.

And I dont really read much else DC. I get batman and occasional things like the sinestro corp thing going on and I dip in for big events.

Then perhaps it's worth getting for you. DiDio has stated that halfway through the series it will be renamed to Countdown To Final Crisis, which as you may have read around, is the next big event.

Yeah, weirdly I think the less DC titles you read the better value Countdown becomes.

I dont buy as much as I used to anyway so I have some room for a limited weekly comic in my budget.

I've purchased 10 of the issues, and I'm done with it. It's going to save me $12 a month, I have not enjoyed this at all. I did not enjoy half of 52, I liked the Question, Batwoman arc, and the Black Adam arc the rest I did not like.

i like it; but i have never read stuff with mary marvel, jason todd, donna troy, or holly robinson, so maybe i'm enjoying new character introduction.
