Brendan McCarthy was supposed to bring Danny back for his issue of Solo (he and Morrison came up with the idea when they were doing concept work for Morrison's dP), but somehow it fell through. I think it may have been that Grant said he would co-write the short Danny story, but had to drop out because of his work load. Then again, McCarthy's issue of Solo was so whacked-out that the whole thing might have been about Danny, and I just didn't get it. (But not in a bad way. That may have been my second favorite issue of Solo, behind only Paul Pope's, although I liked them all.)

It's possible, but... Mogo doesn't socialize.

Y'know, it's a shame that DC couldn't let the Doom Patrol freakin' rest after Morrison's run, but they persevered through some crappy writing after him, especially Byrne's craptastic crapfest of a crapitty-crap series. And they're still around, in a more recognizable half-Morrison/half-Drake team, so if a writer who didn't suck came along with some good ideas for a series, I'd love to see them all back: Cliff, Rebis/Larry/Whateverthehell, Crazy Jane, Danny, The Chief (with head).

........isnt it danny the world now?

plus!

Danny La Rue was the inspiration for the character Danny the Street — a sentient, transvestite street — in Grant Morrison's comic book Doom Patrol. "La Rue" is French for "the Street".

Mogo must've gotten lonely somewhere along the line, because he's socializing like crazy over in the GLC title.

I don't think I understand your take on Byrne's run.... how do you REALLY feel? ;)

This is the kind of knowledge that just kills my enjoyment for a fiction work.

Why? It makes me interested in Danny LaRue, really.

Yeah, I don't understand MartinRedmond's reaction. If you don't have a problem with Danny the Street, why would you have a problem with his namesake?

(On a tangential note, though: I'm slightly embarrassed to admit that I had no idea Danny La Rue was still alive!)

I'm not sure I agree but for once I can see where Martin Redmond is coming from.

Sometimes knowing where ideas come from in a story can take a bit of the magic away from them.
