X-Factor # 65-68
Awesome story involving the Original 5, Baby Nathan, Askani, Apocalypse, Dark Riders and the Inhumans.
Some key stuff in the story:
Cyclops sending baby Nathan to the future thus securing his return as Cable.
Death of Ship
At the time, death of Apoc.

X-Factor 23-26 by Louise & Walt Simonson. The introduction of Apocalypse's Four Horsemen, the transformation of Warren into the horseman Death (and later Archangel), and Pocy revealing that he's more than just the latest mutant bad guy (i.e. that he's immortal and the "first mutant"). Really, really good stuff.

Only Apocalypse story I've ever really loved... well, that and Wolverine: The Jungle Adventure.
The earlier X-Factor stuff was just dumb and the early/mid 90s X-Men/Cable perpetual crossoverarama stuff was just awful. Davis' Twelve story was dissapointing and Milligan's Blood storyline was still pretty bad. Loved Milligan's take on Poccy himself though.

Ugh not to turn negative but I must take some time to say how much I hated "Blood of Apocalypse." It was influential in my total dropping of the X-titles soon after. So bad that it tainted LaRocca's art for me as well, just by association.
Any stories written by Louise Simonson such as X-Factor #5-6 (1st appearance), X-Factor #10 (saves Plague from the Marauders), X-Factor #11 (recruits the future mutant who becomes War), X-Factor #12 (recruits the future mutant he names Famine), X-Factor #15 (Angel's "suicide"), X-Factor #17 (cameo), X-Factor #19 (1st appearance of the 3 Horsemen of Apocalypse as a team), X-Factor #22-23 (Death), X-Factor #24-26, X-Factor #28 (Apocalypse watches as X-Factor battles Ship), X-Factor Annual #3 (Apocalypse vs the High Evolutionary), X-Factor #50 (Apocalypse vs Loki), & X-Factor #65-67 (the only good story not written by Louise Simonson involving Apocalypse).

The Rise of Apocalypse mini series was nicely done. What he said in #4 still resonates with me to this very day. "It was on this day that he forever turned his back on humanity."

Quick question: Did Dracula win in that Apoc vs. Dracula mini that came out a few years ago?

Enjoyed that mini too actually... Pollina's lovely art helped though.

Sort of. Apocolypse killed him, with Van Helsing's help, but Dracula doesn't ever stay dead for long. Call it a draw.

I cant believe I actually bought that and read it, funny thing is my mind must have blocked its suckiness from causing me daily pain or something because I dont recall much of at all.
Ill check out some of the suggestions though.
I have all the age of apocalypse and alot of is, confusing as it was, pretty cool but it didnt have him in it awhole lot.

The best part was when he tricked Deathbird to get to Oracle instead of Lilandra.

The only Apocalypse story I ever really liked was the Fall of the Mutants X-Factor issues and the appearances leading up to that story.
AoA was okay, but I didn't enjoy it as much as many others apparently did.
While I think he's an interesting villain, I don't think too many writers have handled him all that well. I hated everything tying him into Cable.

Have you read the one I quoted? X-Factor #65-68?

I have indeed. IMO, it's not a bad story, but it seemed to me that it was just a setup for the Cable backstory and clearing the decks so that Scott, Jean and co. could move over to X-Men #1.

I believe that, even though Cable existed already, that wasn't the purpose of the story. I don't think it had been decided yet to to make baby Nathan, Cable.

Possibly. I'm not sure Liefeld, Lee and Portacio really knew what they were doing storywise with any of the characters.
At the very least, I think the story was designed to get rid of the X-Factor ship and clear Nathan off so that they wouldn't need to worry about him in X-Men. kind of an out of sight, out of mind thing.

I can see that being the case.
X-Cutioner Song and the Twelve are my favs.
I never read the Twelve, but X-Cutioner's Song was one of my favorite story lines (it was back when I first got into comics, so maybe my perception is a little biased). It's not really about Apocalypse, but it has a pretty significant inclusion of him.

The Simonsons did the best Apocalypse stories. He's never been as good as he was when they were writing him. Louise created him, and over several years evolved his character, his horsemen, and the way he did things. And she didn't need Ozymandias or Sunfire or the Twelve to do it.
Those early Apocalypse stories - he's a real villian in there, not a cartoon.

That was good...I loved Psylocke, until they changed her voice in the last episode for no reason.
It had sinister, magneto, mystique, Shard, Bishop, Jean, Emma, Xavier, the Shi'ar, Archangel.
It really was epic

Is this thread title an Oxymoron?
The X-factor stuff was okay.
AoA was excellent (but, not our Apocalypse and it's aged horrificly IMO).
Everything else, ignore.

What is his Apocalypse's status as of now? Still flyin' around in his sphinx? Last seen getting punked at the end of 'Blood of Apocalypse'...presumably hiding like a lil' scaredy-cat under water, conjuring up his next 'big evolutionary plan'.
What a chump.

He really is the reoccuring villian in the book. He's always showing up through out the entire 70 issue run.
