Welcome to the semi-finals of the 2007 JLAvengers League! The League is a large-scale series of battles—a tournament—where posters draft teams and pit their teams against that of other posters, and you vote to decide who wins. When voting, please consider the strategies the players have written, rather than just the team's roster.

Each match takes place in a different locale from the Marvel or DC Universe. The teams begin 100 yards away from each other. Each character is depicted as they were in the JLA/Avengers mini series (with few exceptions), and the characters have to act in character (meaning that the heroes cannot kill if they aren't normally wont to do so)

If you have any questions about the strategies, please feel free to post these questions here, and the players will answer. The match will last twenty-four hours. After that time period, the player with the largest number of votes wins.

This battle will take place in the desert mountains of the Anti-Matter Universe of Qward.

NOTE - For your vote to count, you must have a post count of no lower than fifty.

Sean Whitmore & Jessica Drew: Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner), Black Bolt, Exodus, Sandman (Marvel), the Mandarin, Donna Troy, Electric Blue Superman

Schornforce: Martian Manhunter, Dr. Doom, Impulse, Agent Smith, Circe, Absorbing Man, Songbird

Sean and Jessica's strategy:

Green Lantern springs into action, surrounding the opposing team with a large dome (the dome if big enough that Creel can't just reach out and touch it, it'd take him about a minute to reach it...think the dome from the Simpsons movie but smaller) and also erecting a transparent wall in front of his own team.

Superman streaks across the field toward them. Superman phases through the dome and reaches Songbird. He should reach her before she can do anything (light beats sound), but if not, he simply absorbs the energy of her sound constructs (as well as anything thrown at him by the others) and short-circuits her sound carapace, adding enough shock to render her unconscious.

Exodus focus his considerable mental energy on Circe before she can teleport out of the dome. She is incredibly powerful, but so is Exodus, and Circe doesn't use telepathy on a regular basis. So Exodus should be able to control Circe JUST enough to aim a transmutation spell at Creel, turning him into the Absorbing Pig. Exodus follows up by rendering the villainous swine unconscious.

Impulse will likely have been able to escape being imprisoned behind the dome, and is racing to his doom. Sandman sinks into the desert battlefield, assuming control of the ground beneath the speedster's feet. He whips the sand in the area into a focused sandstorm aimed specifically at the boy and any scouts.

The Manhunter can easily phase through Kyle's dome, only to be met by the Mandarin's flame ring. The flame is mentally controlled, which should be even more effective. Mandarin is using his other rings at the same time: the mento ring to shield himself, and the impact and electro rings to batter an already weakened J'onn.

With the dome in place, Kyle attacks Doctor Doom and Agent Smith, bouncing their asses off the walls of the dome with a series of hammers and wrecking balls.

Black Bolt tackles Circe if she teleports outside the dome. Between the teleportation and her transmutation of Creel, Circe likely won't be able to blast Bolt before he smashes her in the jaw. If this isn't enough to knock her out, Black Bolt matches her transmutation for transmutation, and pelts her with electron blasts and powerful judo chops.

Donna Troy aids where she is needed. She adds her strength to facing either the Manhunter, Circe, or whoever else manages to get outside the dome.

After downing Songbird (which shouldn't take more than two seconds), Superman easily catches up to Impulse. He absorbs any remaining scouts and uses his neuron control to slow Impulse down, enough for Sandman to solidify and send him to brick town.

If the Manhunter hasn't been defeated by the Mandarin, Exodus joining the fight, hammering J'onn psionically and physically. If the Mandarin's flames are still in business, Exodus should overcome him with little effort.

If Kyle's ring has not succeeded in deactivating Doom's, Superman will aid him by draining it of power. Sandman takes out Smith, shifting his body away from any attempts at Smith-cloning.

If Black Bolt has been unable to defeat Circe at this point, she is swarmed en masse by the rest of the team.

Eventualities: If the Manhunter does not phase through the dome immediately, (Superman will attack him directly after finishing Songbird) with blasts of intense heat.

If Circe and/or Impulse do not leave the dome, Kyle drops it as soon as Creel is piggified.

If Absorbing Man cannot be transmuted for any reason, Kyle drops the giant dome before he can touch it. Exodus will immediately change his mental attack from Circe to him.

Schornforce's strategy:

Wow. Nearly everyone here could be a solo threat to my team. Still, I’ll try my best.

Phase 1 happens right when we arrive:

Bart and J’onn kick up a MASSIVE sandstorm to distract the opposition and give us some cover. J'onn works on doing a telepathic confusion attack on our opposition while doing the sandstorm thang.

Absorbing Man absorbs the sand we’re standing on, blends into the landscape, and performs sneak attacks as needed.

Doom grabs Songbird and teleports into the cavernous caves. Circe grabs Agent Smith and also teleports to another section of the caves.

Phase 2:

Once everyone’s away, Bart creates clones who take over for J’onn, still kicking up as much area-wide sandstormage as possible.

J’onn turns invisible and intangible while shielding himself from telepathic detection. He‘ll bide his time near the opposition and attack at first opportunity. J’onn’s primary goal is to seize mental control of Blackbolt and use him to talk at Exodus and/or Kyle.

Doom and Circe get to work deep in the cavernous caves. Doom starts casting anti-manipulation and anti-detection wards. Circe starts creating a forcefield to prevent unwanted entry to the caves. Songbird begins creating as many constructs as she can in the form of our team members. Agent Smith stands guard in case of early breach or if the Qwardians are in the cave. If they are, he transforms them into Smiths. If the Qwardians are in Circe’s section, Songbird’s constructs will attack them.

Sandman seeks to ambush Electric Blue Superman and sandblast his delicate protective suit apart.

Phase 3:

Songbird’s constructs and any copied Smiths leave to attack the opposition. They’ll attack our opponents as best they can, hopefully giving J’onn and Absorbing Man time to act.

Once Doom and Circe have completed their spells, if Smith transformed the Qwardians, Circe will up their power level. Doom will keep reinforcing the previous spells.

If our previous attacks were successful, now J’onn will use Blackbolt to scream at Sandy to disperse him.

Circe now tries to transform any enemies she can into pigs. Hopefully, this multi-pronged attack will allow us to beat this uber-powerful team.

Contingencies: If Kyle shields our opposition, J’onn should be able to phase through the shield and wait to ambush.

If the enemy takes out Bart, his clones, J’onn, and Absorby, the others should be protected within the caves and can enact their portion of the plan.

Should Sandman try and quell the sandstorm, Absorbing Man confronts him directly. Sandman to Sandman.

I won't be on to debate, or anything and as always, it's up to the voters, but I think since most of my team immediately teleports away/escapes, the dome maneuver doesn't go off well. Plus Absorby's sand. Even IF Circe casts a spell, he turns into Sandpig (not to be confused with Spider-Pig, his arch nemesis) and then transforms sandy-like back into Sandcreel.

Since the opposition is attacking the dome and not the cavernous caves, I think the rest of my team can pull off their part of the attack. If the sandstorm's going, the opposition MAY not even realize we're not in the dome until they move in to attack.

Just a thought.

Good luck to you, Sean and Jessica, I knew coming in that you'd be uber tough to beat!

Thanks Schornforce, you did a great job as well!

I'll likewise refrain from making any arguments, except for questions of fact (like, yes, Superman Blue has this power, etc).

Like with most fights, I think it'll mainly come down to the voter's decision of who can do what first. Can Exodus hit Circe telepathically before she can teleport, can Doom grab Songbird before Superman super-speeds over, etc.

Good job, Schornforce, you wrote included a few tactics I (we) didn't foresee.

Thanks, Jessica. As I said, you both did wonderfully, too. I like that we both conjured up sandstorms. No matter who wins, no one will be able to see what's going on. :)

You too, Sean and Jessica. This one was really close! I could've sworn it was 4/4 after I voted, but maybe one of the voters had too few posts or something... or I was hallucinating again.
