I 've been rewatching my dvds of BtAS , and wondered if anybody could tell me where The Mask of the Phantasm and SubZero fit into the order of the episodes .
I haven't watched either in years, but I think Mask of the Phantasm is a stand-alone story. It is never referenced in the series so it would be impossible to place. Sub-Zero is somewhere between "Batgirl Returns" and the time jump/name change.

I 'm pretty sure there's a future flashforward of the Phantasm and Amanda Waller in the Justice League cartoon , so it should be part of the Timverse canon .
As I watch on I 'll attempt to figure out where it fits in . I 'm thinking between "Batgirl Returns " and SubZero . The only real continuity problem is the end with the Joker and Phantasm , and Batman 's villains escape certain death without explanation all the time .

What's the continuity problem?

Mask of the Phantasm likely occurs exactly where it falls in the seasons--I think somewhere between season 2 and 3?
Sub-Zero occurs in the interim between the final episode of B:TAS and the first episode of the "Gotham Knights" episodes, or volume 4 of the DVDs.

I think that DonC was suggesting that Mask of the Phantasm was out of continuity , but maybe I misunderstood . Either way , I just wondered where people thought it fit in the larger BtAS continuity .

I did watch it between seasons 2& 3 . There is the issue of Phantasm disappearing with Joker at the end of MotP , but I don't see that being a big deal , as I 've heard the issue is addressed somewhere else , maybe JL, which I 'll be watching for the 1st time once I finish the 4th Batman dvd set and the Superman and Batman Beyond dvds .

I don't remember the Phantasm in the Justice League cartoon or in JLU.

Phantasm was in the final Batman Beyond episode, which, also had JLU members. (S)he was shown in a flashback, while explaining McGinnis' origin of being a clone of Bruce. Phantasm was supposed to murder McGinnis' parents, but, developed a conscious, somehow (remembering how similar this was to Bruce's parents' death, maybe ?) and didn't go through with it.

I don't remember the Phantasm in the Justice League cartoon or in JLU.
She was in the episode called "Epilogue"(a very brief appearance) on the Justice League Unlimited. That was the one showing the beginnings of Terry McGinnis.
It's easier just linking to wikipedia than me typing it out.

Edit: looks like Kristofer already beat me too it.

If Phantasm took place at the time during which it was released, then why doesnt Robin appear anywhere in the film? The film takes place over the course of at least a week, from what I recall. Robin would have to eventually show up at the manor during that time. If this film was in continuity at all, then it was probably an early Batman adventure.

Harley isn't in it either . Around the time between season 2& 3 Joker & Harley were split up , so I figured that placement made sense , but placing it before Harley and Joker ever hooked up also works .
Considering Phantasm's brief appearance on JLU , I would say it 's canon.

I don't know if you know this, but in TAS, Dick is in college. He helps Batman when he can but for the most part Batman is usually operating solo. Dick could have been studying for a test while Phantasm was going on for all we know.

Kristofer was refering to the Justice League Unlimited episode that took place in the Batman Beyond time period.
Here's the thing about Mask of the Phantasm: It was a PG-13-rated movie. The series was all-ages. It may well fit neatly between episodes, but the producers would never have referenced it because it would mean the kids watching would have to be familiar with something that wasn't intended for them. Now, Justice League was geared toward an older audience, so they could (however briefly) use Phantasm.

Phantasm was basically an animated remake of Batman: Year Two, that's why it doesn't have robin and feels like it takes place early in Batman's career.
