Not sure if this theory has been brought up yet. But going only by Countdown #42 when the Rogue's kill, The Flash. If it's exactly like the Flash comic in which case most of the Countdown flashbacks (or current time) storylines are that have(had) events happen in other comics.

The Trickster and Flash where in contact near the end. Weather Wizard blasts Bart with lightning while he is holding onto The Trickster, who also feels the buzz as a chain reaction through contact. Well, with a writter able to create any whacky event to explain anything, then I think there is something to this.

Trickster is highlighted more so than any other rogue in the series. The Lightning Saga was about at least 1 Flash, of lightning. The Legion got who they came for which is somewhat expected to be Barry Allen still inside a lightning rod or whatever. Another Flash and lightning connection.

I'm calling it now. Bart Allen is still somewhat alive and Trickster is the answer. Either Bart has enough knowledge to pull off pretending to be the Trickster still in MIND and body or Bart is dorment inside the Tricksters subconsious. Something will need to draw him out. He may be trapped in that body. I don't know, but they killed him off too quickly as everybody said and he was just starting to make sense when out of nowhere he is killed off. Since I won't put it passed DC to have 4-5 Flashes on one earth for a time, then I can believe Bart Allen still has hope.

Example- Marvel's Rogue who had Coral Denvers in her brains for years. Firestorm with the professor and several others so far. This might be the first one a lightning chain that causes the merger or escape. But Bart knew he was done for and it seems that image of him holding onto Trickster as Weather Wizard hits him(them) with Lightning is like the Image Countdown/Crisis spoiler images. There is something more to it than just a 2page splash.

It seemed likely at the end of JLA 10 that Brainiac 5 had Bart Allen within the Lightning Rod. His dialog certainly indicated that he had someone that he wanted. I bet Bart will show up as a member of the pre-crisis legion in the upcoming Action Comics arc in October.

I don't think it is Barry. I don't recall, but I am pretty sure that they never say implicitly.

it better be barry in the rod I rather have barry than bart just let bart come back through inertia.

 I thought that incident happened only in Trickster's nightmare.

See, I disagree. Barry is one of those few characters whose death meant something. He died and, despite his appreances thanks to time hopping, he stayed dead.

If Braniac 5 has Bart, then I think he'd be used as a means to connect with his original timeline - ie, the Reboot Legion, which presumably exists in one of the 52 universes.

We know that the three different Legion teams shared an adventure in current continuity, since it's been referenced a few times, including a specific reference to XS (Bart's cousin). So it seems like Bart might have a connection to that universe, and as a Flash he could enable travel to it.

We know that Bart's death coincides precisely with the Legion's mission. We know that they were trying to bring someone other than Wally back. We also know that the lightning rods have been used to resurrect people before. So with all of that together, then their original goal might have been to resurrect Bart at the moment of his death, which would presumably be the best moment to try it.

In fact, given that Dream Girl predicted a Legionnaire would die, perhaps what she actually saw was that one of them would die to bring Bart back, but since he hasn't been revived yet, they'll need to do it again... perhaps in order to transfer Bart's "lightning" into Inertia's body.

Lucky for them they wont have to look very hard to find Inertia's body....

Wally owned the hell out of him

My assumption is that Bart is now with the Legion in the future and seeing as how Earth needs it's Flash [remember, Jay Garrick doesn't really count ; ) ], so the Legion brought back Wally for the present.

I wish there were some clever twists...but I remain convinced:
In COUNTDOWN, what you see is what you get. Don't hope for surprise revelations. Everyone is who they say they are.

Yeah I know but everone else died and came back so why not barry and I doubt that if bart did come back it would probaly be through inertia. Also didnt bart die after barry appeared so that means bart cant be in the lightning rod but rather barry.

Sounds interesting but I don't see it happening. I too think Bart is in the lightning rod. I just don't see Barry coming back at this point, at least not on Earth Prime.
Honestly I have no idea where the Trickster/Piper story is going. It seems to have no point right now.
