Unlike Superman (alien) Wonder Woman (magical) Flash (time-distorting powers) Martian Manhunter (alien) Green Lantern (all-powerful ring) Aquaman (Atlantian) Green Arrow (magically ressurected) and many other heroes, there's no excuse for Batman not growing old.

Do we the readers think Bruce would ever use any of the numerous magical or super-scientific methods available to him to stay young?

Do we think a writer would ever do it?

There was a book a few years back in which Bruce is sealing up Lazarus Pits, and after a near fatal confrontation with Ra's, Bruce is unwittingly placed in the pit, likely because of Talia. I can't remember the name of the book, though.

But I don't think Bruce would ever voluntarily use a pit. Its not his style.

I think DC will retcon him via another Crisis before he ever has a chance to grow that old. I personally like the idea of Bruce using the Lazarus pit and taking on some aspects of Ra 's al Ghul's legacy .
For what it's worth , the issue of Bruce choosing whether to use the Lazarus pit or not is important in John Byrne's elseworld saga Superman /Batman Generations , but I 'm not sure if it was Generations 1, 2 or 3 , as there were 3 limited serieses , 1& 2 have been released in tpb , but no tpb for 3 yet .I really liked it and recommend it . It's idea is that Supes & Batman and all their supporting cast started their careers back in the 40's , and each issue of the first limited series skips ahead 10 years , to a year ending in '0, all the way up to modern day.The second mini series shows stories in years ending in '1 and widens it's scope to feature the JLA . THe 3rd mini goes further into the future and back into the past .It's a very ambitious project , and shows the dynasties of Supes , Batman & the JLA .

I think its been hinted at in numerous ways, that Bruce is not the type to take advantage of any situation that could change or alter his fate. He knows one day he will be to old to continue as batman, and as a reader I feel that will ultimately subcome to fate, in the sense that he will not find for whatever reason a suitable replacement. Perhapes the none of the Robins take up the mantle because they lose the desire to devote their lives to fighting crime as a vigilante, maybe one days, maybe one takes up a different mantle whatever the reason I think Bruce has either accepted that he as a mortal man will die from old age, and that unlike his superpowered friends wont find a clause in death and he will be bitter about it but ultimately accept it.
