I know there is a seperate forum for Countdown, but I specifically wanted to address these questions to those DC readers who have given up on the title (which according to the sales figures is a lot of you).

Is it too late now, has the series just taken too long to get interesting and nothing could compel you to return to it? Or were a couple of the storylines to pick up could you be convinced to add it to your list again? What would it take?

Similarly has your dissapointment with this series tainted you against all the many Countdown related minis that are coming up. Has DC tied a bunch of minis to an already sinking ship?

The only initial selling point for me was Jason Todd. When it became evident that they weren't going to treat him with the propper characterization, I was done. A meandering walk with Donna Troy while discussing his concerns about current events was the final straw for me. I really thought a writing team with Dini at the helm couldn't go wrong, but I was obviously mistaken.

So, could it be saved? I suppose so. Give a good explanation for Jason's behavioral anomolies involving alternate earths, put the character in the foreground a lot more, and give him an opportunity to truly develop as a person. I'd strongly consider returning for that.

Man you're wasting your time trying to be logical with the mods on these forums. I once posted a thread on both Superman and Batman, so they moved it to the Batman forum and deleted my references to Superman. So trying to post on Countdown anywhere but the Countdown forum, no way that'll fly. The mods apparently know better than posters where we want our threads.

To answer your question I'm overseas so TBPs are the only practical way for me to get comics. But I have no plans to get countdown because of the tie-ins. Even when it's collected it will be all over the place, either lacking chapters or including issues that are 90% irrelevent to the storyline.

I think one reason 52 was this surprise hit is taht it was self-contained and even with a plethora of writers and artists it spoke with one voice. I don't see how Countdown can end up making sense.

That does mean I'll miss Goth Cheerleader Mary Marvel but oh well.

I'm one of the people who dropped the book a little while ago but has returned to reading it in recently. While it started slow, things have been a bit more interesting now that the stories are kicking along.

I don't think it is too late to get into Countdown. You may need to get someone to give you a primer, just like you might need for any book you pick up beyond issue 1...

I gotta admit, this was the point which I asked myself if I really liked this book... I really wanted to keep up with countdown because of the Source Wall & Darkseid future prospects. But, it feels like a book that is torn between the stories instead of making a fluid tapestry out the stories as I felt "52" did, so amazingly well...

As far as this question goes, even though I'm just about done with Countdown, I'm just not interested in any of the new tie-ins and minis. The only possible ones that appeal to me are the Sinestro Corps one-shots, which are a different event entirely, and I probably still won't pick those up.

Four Horsemen, Countdown to Mystery, Countdown to Adventure, Search for Ray Palmer... I just don't care about any of these series, especially with the relatively weak creative teams attached to them. :(

Yes, it is too late. There's no reason to think the quality of the series will ever improve.

It can be fixed, but it'll take some work.

-I still have no interest in the Holly/Harley story.
-The Trickster/Piper story has got to move faster
-Black Mary story is fine. The high point of this series
-Donna/Jason/Atom story is picking up slowly but surely. I prefer Jason's more mellow personality here to that of his initial psycho
