Im sorry but i won't be picking up your Batman and the Outsiders title. it's no longer the book the book that i tolerated pre one year later and loved post one year later. No more Nightwing, No more Arsenal, No more Boomer means no more Christopher Goodnight as a reader. There may come a time when i regret this desicion and have to track down back issues but for right now i say count me out

For me adding aquaman, catwoman and MM three who I absolutely hate is more of a cause for not picking it up than Booker and such being gone.

Judd Winick getting kicked to the kirb is more than reason enough for me to pick this book up again. New creative team, new direction, new characters, possibly something closer to the original Outsiders. Color me sold.

You are knocking a book before it's even shipped.

My only problem is with the art. It just doesn't look to my taste.

It's not fair to give Tony a hard time over this; I'll bet anything the shake-up was an editorial decision.

For that matter, it's not fair to criticise something that hasn't shipped yet and the final line-up of which has not been revealed.

Anyway, I'm excited about this. Removing Batman from the original Outsiders book was one of the stupidest things DC ever did and the sales started going downhill soon thereafter. I'll be happy to see him back and I welcome the shake-up in membership.

Personally, I don't care for Winick's writing. The only time I picked this up consistently after the first several issues was for the Teen Titans and Checkmate crossovers.

Besides, Tony hasn't disappointed me yet.

final lineup has been revealed on the cover of the first issue. i liked winnick's work honestly and i am sticking with several other titles that bedard is taking over.

Not really knocking Tony, but I am one that liked Judds run up until the end of the first arc after Crisis on Outsiders and liked his Exiles stuff.

Tony has done great on Black Canary so far, but IMHO aquaman is the worst dc character ever, catwoman is horrid and MM is beyond boring.

When I lose people like Starfire/Arsenal, Boomer, Grace,Thunder, Indigo, and don't really have any new character I could care anything about it doesn't want me to pick up the book.

Its not the writing I am worried about at all its the lack of anyone worthy being on the team.

I wish there was a way the team could be

Nightwing/Starfire/Indigo/Mete(shift)/Boomer/Grace/Thunder and maybe Batman as the leader.

Says who? Just because you see certain people depicted on the cover doesn't mean that's the final line-up. I've heard others say the same thing about the promo ad (which depicts a somewhat different line-up).

I bet it's got Batman in it, though.

Should I have placed spoiler warnings around that?

No, St. Saucey, stick to your guns.

In fact, I don't think I'll be reading BATMAN AND THE OUTSIDERS, either.

Who else is with me?

Okay as soon as a change my tune and say im considering picking it up Mr. Bedard finaly comments on this post telling me not to. Let me explain why I wasn't going to get the book. One, it seemed like (upon the solicits for the mini series that Batman was basicly putting the team he wanted together in jla. no of course thats not the case. no captain marvel and such. But like I said. there is no Nightwing. There is No Boomer and Of Course there is no Arsenal. Three really cool characters. Nightwing was the reason I started reading the book and I dug Arsenal.

Plus like i said I'm a whore for comics and starting another new ongoing just seemed like such a hassal.

But seeing as how I am not picking up the original outsiders anymore and the fact that the art is just so so pretty. I'm giving it a shot. Which means I will probably just not take it off my pull list and read it wether its good or not. :)

By the way it was never anything personal its not like i saw your name attached and said fuck no i'll never read a book with his name attached.

counts down the lsit.

I personally pick up a book based on the writer versus the character or concept. You just checked everyone of his books minus B to the O.

Its sounds like your rational is based on concept not the writer. More power to you because that's what keeps the big two in print. Its not Johns, Its GL. It was always Superman and not Shuster and Siegel.

But uh - why post here? Why bait the writer?

wasn't baiting the writer. was informing him. and then i changed my mind based on the pretty pretty art. like i said it wasn't personal it was financial.

Well, I gotta admit while I wasn't onboard for the original Outsiders concept, I'm still not wowed by this. Not that I don't think your a good writer, Tony, but frankly this concept leaves me cold. I want my heroes acting as heroes, working both within and without the system to do the best possible good. Sure, I'd love it if superheroes toppled fascist regimes, but the way that they always make it sound as if it's dirty or dark just really doesn't make me want to embrace it.

Gotta give you props for not throwing the hate. Glad you brought this up from your perspective. I personally take all of this in.

Running a store, I get to hear so many sides. Often the various readers and fans bring opinions positive and negative that I had never even thought of from my reading. I love that part of being connected to comics.

I try to only hate writers for legitimate reasons. And even then, I usually don't hate writers per se, but specific things they do. Like, say, I'm still mad at Geoff Johns for killing Pantha for the expressly WiR reason of making "He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named"-Prime look out-of-control, but I still think he's a good writer and I like most of the books he's putting out. I'm really more of a concepts guy.
